Cup of Suffering

Post by Spectralsingularity »

Cup of Suffering isn't really a new keenspace site since, it's been around since 2002, which I guess in keenspace terms means it's approaching middle age. As part of its impending mid-life crisis the comic is trying to reach out to new, younger, hipper audiences (and if it's lucky maybe start dating a co-ed).

Oh, also it's updating again more than a year of...not. And there's a brand new site too. Truly the cup doth runneth over. We're in the middle of storyline right now so you may want to start with the archives, but regardless, curious parties can direct your attention to http://cupofsuffering.keenspace.com.

Much Thanks

It's like christmas, in September.

The only downside is we can no longer laugh at Bob's refusal to believe that CoS was dead.

Ergh. Forgive me if I'm stupid, but I can't work out which button to click to go back ONE comic from the main page... the foetal previous button is sending me right back to the current page for some reason. Could be just me, though.

I'm having that problem too. The archives are a bit trecherous to navigate at the moment.

But that dosen't stop this from being an AMAZING comic.

Yeah apologies for the button problems. It's been awhile since I navigated the treacherous layers of keenspace directories, so I'm having to go back and make several changes to the site. But wow, thanks to the people who've replied, I was positive this post would die in obscurity. It really is good to be back.

I've heard much about this comic and how it was a shame that it has died. Now it appears the time is ripe to give it a read.

Ahaha, brilliant. This is a good day.
Out of interest, how long did the current page take to draw?

You have to be careful about asking me such things, I'll give out far more details than you ever wanted to know. The short short answer is: too damn long. I really want to start making some of the characters look more sophisticated, so getting better sketches of Moses and God took awhile. I think Moses has filled out, but God still has another four or five beards to go through before he gets a look I like. And even though it's a talking heads comic, it still took me a couple of weeks (scrounging an hour here and there) to get the whole thing sketched out.

The really involved effort is making the finished line art. For all my new comics I take my rough sketches and re-trace them in Flash, which, with a mouse, takes all of ETERNITY. But you get so much more control over your lines and editing is so much easier, it's worth it (and tracing in Flash is so much more intuitive than Illustrator). Still my tortured wrist is begging me to get a Cintiq tablet post haste. So that's my new dream.

Whew, yeah....there you go.

Get a frigging tablet! Just to know you're doing that job with a mouse freaks me out. Scares me.

Looks amazing though. Insane, but amazing.

Ohhh fantastic! Great to see you're back! Your comics leave me in absolute stitches. I was still checking back every couple of months to see if you'd managed to put out another masterpiece.

Hell, even briefly describing your comics to my friends makes them giggle.

Heyyyy... What happened to the mime thing? I loved the mime thing.

I knew my faith would not go unrewarded!!

I had this comic in my bookmarks ever since, well since it stopped updating, and I still checked it (along with all my others) every day (it's easier than remembering shedules or sorting things).

Now finally I am justified!!

and if you stop again I. Will. Hunt. You. Down.
