Maggie & Shade

Post by Eve Z. »

I've this new short illustration-based comic, Maggie&Shade.

It's about a girl named Maggie and her alter-ego, a inner-spirit named Shade, with shadow wings that helps her find a way to happiness.
this is made in a traditional way - ink on paper.

give it a try amd tell me your thoughts about it.
if you don't get what's going on, check out the character bios. ;)

enjoy!

hmm I like the illustrations but everything's happening so fast! As a result, the conversations sound kind of...unreal ^^ But interesting story--keep up the good work!

I liked the art a lot (the inks give it a nice feeling), and the one panel at a time thing was clever. The site is clean and works nicely. Less impressed by dialogue, pacing, and writing, and I doubt its my sort of story.

Congratulations.

as not being an English speaker, what does "pacing" mean?

I will clean the dialogue when I will LEARN more about it. I'm still stupid, though. It sounded very good in MY language. I think the problen is translation-related.

"paceing "
clipped from wiki -
Pace, also called rhythm or tempo, is a term used to describe the flow of events in an entertainment piece.

Description
All time arts - music, dance, drama, film - are enormously concerned with pacing - with rhythm or tempo. As the film director translates events in a script into actions that make up scenes and sequences, that is, as the director shapes the actors' performances and stages the other actions in front of the camera, one of his or her paramount concerns is pacing, making the action swell, subside, and swell again.

The director does this to keep the scene from losing its energy and intensity. Later, after the shooting is over, the director, working with the film editor, will further control, construct, and perfect the pacing in the way he or she builds shots into scenes and sequences.

and no your not stupid .. frankly i couldnt tell you didnt speak english , if i may what is your primary language . and yeah that might be where the problem lays...

I really like the art in this... a lot. The story is a little hard to pick up on with each update only being one frame, but its easy enough to follow and fill in what isn't given explicitly. I look forward to seeing more.

The theme doesnt interest me much
Also its very hard to follow the story with 1 panel per page...Did you consider putting them together (and smaller)?
It also felt like I was reading a trailer to the atual comic - things happen very fast!

But these are details. Great comic and really great art!
