Re: Photographers will like this thread
the center thing, really depends on what sort of photo you are taking. a portrait would look kinda silly if it was leaning to right for instance. But an action shot, would look boring if it was framed to center.

Even a portrait looks drab if its dead center for no other reason than "ITS A PORTRAIT SO THINGS TO STRAIGHT AND IN THE MIDDLE"Phact0rri wrote:the center thing, really depends on what sort of photo you are taking. a portrait would look kinda silly if it was leaning to right for instance. if your targeting someone's face as apposed to the figure the rules of framing change. thats more my point.Killbert-Robby wrote:Even a portrait looks drab if its dead center for no other reason than "ITS A PORTRAIT SO THINGS TO STRAIGHT AND IN THE MIDDLE"Phact0rri wrote:the center thing, really depends on what sort of photo you are taking. a portrait would look kinda silly if it was leaning to right for instance. A face in the middle of a page is still depressingly boring. That's why my passport photo isn't a work of art.Phact0rri wrote:if your targeting someone's face as apposed to the figure the rules of framing change. thats more my point.Killbert-Robby wrote:Even a portrait looks drab if its dead center for no other reason than "ITS A PORTRAIT SO THINGS TO STRAIGHT AND IN THE MIDDLE"Phact0rri wrote:the center thing, really depends on what sort of photo you are taking. a portrait would look kinda silly if it was leaning to right for instance. not all photography is a work of art. some photography is taken for function not for art. This is implied when you talk about taking photographs.Killbert-Robby wrote:A face in the middle of a page is still depressingly boring. That's why my passport photo isn't a work of art.

Photos for function are still in the VAST minority. Most photos, in the 90%s are just people snapping things for memory, point, click, woo, oh this doesn't look right, delete, snap again. A sizeably smaller portion take it to make something pretty. Very very very few people take it for function. I'm just saying that when someone says "I'm taking photos", I don't think they're implying that they do passport and crime-scene photosPhact0rri wrote:not all photography is a work of art. some photography is taken for function not for art. My point is, most people who are going to care about subject placement are people who are doing artsy photos, in which case dead-center-facing-the-lens is pretty much frowned upon.

Always aim center mass. Never aim for the head unless you're within 25 meters.Phact0rri wrote:if your targeting someone's face as apposed to the figure the rules of framing change. thats more my point.Killbert-Robby wrote:Even a portrait looks drab if its dead center for no other reason than "ITS A PORTRAIT SO THINGS TO STRAIGHT AND IN THE MIDDLE"Phact0rri wrote:the center thing, really depends on what sort of photo you are taking. a portrait would look kinda silly if it was leaning to right for instance. ...oh, wait. You're talking about a different kind of targeting.

Or Bullseye.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.
