A long hot soak in a bubble bath at the end of a long, tiring day.

and/or

A few hours of 'me time' just to go read at the local bookstore while sipping a chai and savoring a slice of cheesecake.

the smell of old books. Clothes fresh from the dryer. The chill you get down your back hearing an amazing song. Hiting that chord you been trying to find for three months to finish a song. The feeling of fingers wrapped around fingers. The beating heart of the one you love. shoulder blades.

I could go on. these are few of my favourite things!

Backrubs. Backscratches. Scratching an itch.

That few precious seconds between when you've lit a fuse, and when the explosion goes off.

Arriving at the daycare after a horrible day at work, picking up my daughter, and having her grin at me.

All is right with the world then.

The explosion. Watching anything with treads do what it was built to do. Anything involving belted ammunition being fired.

Also, sitting on the couch wearing sweats after a run in the rain and watching a movie. Running in a heavy downpour. Reading anything so immersive I lose track of time and space around me.

Writing diatribes on various forums. Walking without a limp.

No wait. Actually:

Being struck with inspiration that actually holds up.

Waking up slowly, knowing there's nothing I need to do, nowhere I need to be. Bonus if I'm curled up with the manho or my Luna.

Also
Spending a handful of days in a provincial park in beautiful weather. I miss camping.

Waking up and the breeze comes in through the window and puts you right back to sleep again. (Better if this happens on a day when you don't have to go somewhere...)

Going to the calendar at the end of the day and getting out a marker and crossing that day off. Bonus points if I actually got something done that day to make it worth crossing off.

When you're listening to a song in the car and you look outside and someone unaware is walking or jogging to the beat of the song. Actually this probably fits better under the category "Things that make you laugh really really hard but are difficult to explain to others."

Also, when it smells really really nice outside, like when the smell of the air just epitomizes the season. Fresh cut grass and thunderstorm smell in the spring/summer, leaves and wood burning stoves in the fall, snow smell.

Also while we're on smells- anything that reminds me of marching band, up to and including the exhaust from charter buses.

The feel of the victim's blood just as it hits the bottom of my forearm and begins to pool in the crook of my elbow, their screams echoing in the cramped concrete basement and their wide, fear-filled eyes lit up by the single bare bulb swinging lazily back and forth overhead.

Also, kittens.

having no pain from health issues... but if you want to be more poetic, lying under a magnolia tree sucking up the warmth of spring with a nice fresh breeze full of the smell of living things rocking the branches above.

Sitting at my desk, staring at a completed drawing that has, on inspection of the clock, taken around six hours to complete, and knowing that I have managed to convey the image I had in my head when I first started said artwork. It is the most euphoric feeling I've ever known.

Having ice cream for dinner.

This will later backfire and become my own little slice of Heck as my stomach gurgles with the fury of a provoked tiger and my brain is unable to create coherent thought.
