That's true, isn't it? I haven't seen The Neko around here in ages. Of course, I'm pretty self-involved, and don't really pay very good attention to such things.

If you're looking for a president, you should choose someone who isn't actually on the forums anymore. Allow me to elaborate.

1) Said president should be chosen on popular standing. That way everyone will look up to and have fond memories of them, i.e., "Remember when the President did insert event here?" "Oh yes. Who could forget that? They were awesome."
Corollary: If said president is no longer posting, there is nothing they can do that will sully their reputation. This is also true should they return.

2) The president-to-be will have exhibited extremely favorable or unfavorable behavior in the past. This won't matter because they're already popular, or that is why they became popular.

3) No Comic Genesis or Keenspace president to date has actually done anything while in office other than provide rhetoric to enforce their popularity or serve as a scapegoat when things go badly - see point 2. So why not choose someone who's already in the minds (and hearts) of the denizens but never seen?

4) Should this thread bring the dead back to life (i.e. long missing members), they are instantly qualified for the position since we will never see them again once this thread is moved to the Archive. That is, until there is another election.
