Patrick McGoohan died yesterday.

that sucks that he died I thought he was great and under appreciated. I loved the prisoner, I saw it when sci-fi channel aired it sometime in the nineties. He was brilliant in it. I thought he was great in ice station zebra.
I'm always apprehensive when they try to remake sci fi classics. Usually they don't turn out very good at all. The almost always make you long for the original, even when the remake is decent. However of course being a sci fi nerd I'll watch it, just like i watched the remake of the day the Earth stood still.
Ian mckellen is a good actor so it might just be watchable.

Is this recommended watching? The original I mean.

The last episode is out there but so is the whole series. I thought that the ending was as ambiguous as the series was. It wasn't meant to be straight forward or have a clear intent. So yeah the original is a must see for sci fi fans.

I'll watch the new Prisoner, but I don't expect it to be as charmingly surreal as the old one.

A, B and C, Living in Harmony and Many Happy Returns are my favourite episodes!
