Lego Birthdays

Post by Dr Legostar »

So, and shame on me for not knowing this but, August 25th wasn't just the 6 year anniversary of my comic starting, it also happened to be the 30 year anniversary of the lego minifigure. I find that really amusing.

I never owned Legos as a child. I owned other interesting building kits - Connectix, Errector Sets, etcetera. But never legos.

I have always felt a little bit deprived because of that.

I owed something like, three sets of Legos. But they were always too expensive to get more, and since collecting sets until you have an entire collection always seemed to be the point, I eventually gave up hope.

I always just demanded bins of assorted bricks.
Sets are fun but nothing beats building random houses and towers just to see how big you can make them before they fall over.

how tall could you go? whenever I tried, I either a. ran out of legos, or b. ended up building as high as I could reach.

pretty tall. We inherited a bin of lego from my dad, and I had a couple bins for myself that I found in like toys r us or somewhere.

My brother built a hotel with a working elevator once when he was twelve, that was neat.

No; we built it on a whim.

I do know that it involved string, and probably some of those 1x4 pieces with the holes through the middle, but it was so long ago and I didn't really pay much attention.
I'm sure you and I could build another one.

:: edit ::

goddammit now i want to do that.
why does this always happen when i have work to do

i know the feeling, it's not like i could build it with what I have here but I have so many lego ideas, especially now that I want to film this movie and try to win those sets.

I'd imagine a working elevator wouldn't be TOO hard to construct - probably just some simple mechanical knowledge of pulleys would be required, plus some technic gears.

I allways liked to make a huge Lego city, and then have my Godzilla toys come a destroy them. Never knew Lego minifig was thirty years old. Can you even find "normal" lego sets anymore? I haven't seen one in eons.

Congrats on your comics birthday!
