Hay, I remember playing the original one. Definitely do not need another distraction; it was pretty addictive.

This game is hard, and I can't get the tutorial to work.

Haven't clicked the link, but this reminds me of when Wigfiddle would draw civilizations in MSPaint and then have them destroy themselves.

I'm playing a sloooooooooow game right now. I've infected almost the whole world, but killed nobody. :)

Ooooooh, I just figured out why it doesn't seem to work . . . the tutorials try to open as a pop-up, which the browser blocks. If you set your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from Newgrounds, it'll open up the site that has the tutorials.

Man, I can't figure out how to infect a country if their borders are closed. I mean, they tend to shut down the air travel and ship yard travel as well. Hmmm....maybe I can save one form for later and infect them that way.

I haven't found any way to infect a country that has it's borders, airports and shipyards closed, but it seems like they're not as quick to close them down if you keep the infectiousness fairly low. If it spreads too quickly they panic, even if there's no symptoms and no deaths.

In this case you have to hope that they haven't closed down their direct borders...for instance the us closed their shipyards and airports but not the borders and my infection in mexico spread upwards into canada. Sadly for my disease I didn't get madagascar greenland or cuba...got a little too trigger happy with my deathcount and WHAM no more access for me.

Once borders and all transportation hubs are closed down, that area is completely un-infectable. But unlike the original Pandemic, this sequel is more about killing as many as you can rather than killing every single person in the world . . . though of course the latter would be the best.

But yah, there's ways to get around without anyone noticing you and shutting down. Probably the very most important thing to accomplishing this is keeping your Visibility at the absolute minimum. Note that a handful of the various symptoms actually have no purpose except to raise your Visibility, while some of the others have an extremely high ratio of Visibility in relation to the accompanying Infectivity and Lethality. At the beginning of your run, the best thing to do is both avoid these symptoms and to "sell" them off whenever you get them by random chance. One of the best ways to tell immediately whether a symptom is beneficial or harmful to you is to check the Evolution Point cost for each one . . . if the cost to sell is higher than the cost to buy, then it's dead weight and you should get rid of it.

I had pretty good luck starting out in Madagascar. Took for-freaking-ever to get off the island, but by then I had a lot of evolution points built up and managed to sweep across the continents.
Indonesia screwed me 'though. Darn island nations.
Also Peru. Darn Peru too.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I - via a nasty little virus named Nihil - have completely wiped out the human race.

Greenland was surprisingly the one that held out the longest, keeping its borders, transportation, and hospital open while disdaining to burn corpses, rats, or insects . . . but eventually it all came tumbling down, shutting off the last hope of ever crafting a vaccine and became the first of many countries to become completely devoid of life.

I am the man.

Er . . . virus.

I feel sorry for the one or two ships that didn't put into port on time and are stuck bouncing from place to place to place unable to land.

My strategy is :
Sell off all symptoms
Keep all resistances low
Buy very few transmissions

This way my disease spreads slowly, and very few people are infected at a time. I'm talking like 15 per country. I usually keep the window minimized and do something else. Because so few people are infected, nobody panics. Once I have at least, you know, 5 infected per country, I have plenty of evo points, and suddenly my disease is extremely resistant, deadly and infectious

Bye bye human race

I've been having real problems with this game and getting absolutly nowhere. This was until I worked out I was playing a fake Pandemic II written by some random mook who wanted to cash in on Pandemic 1.
