Nah, I saw it the first time when I played Chrono Trigger.

I'll see if with someone else if they really want to go though.

I dunno. One preview looked really crappy, and the other looked fairly decent, so I'm torn. Ironically, the crappy one was the more polished of the two - the one they're showing now. The decent one was the crappy-looking teaser they showed before Transformers, apparently.

I'll do what I always do before I bother to pay 12$ to see a movie: Wait for the reviews.

Never a GD mod around when you need one.

I see one movie a year. My quota's being filled that day by Persepolis.

I'm going to see it. The curiosity factor is too high on this one. I just hope JJ abrams doesn't pull a fast one like not showing the monster at all.

While it largely depends on the specific work, I sometimes like it when the monster isn't completely shown. That's part of what made Alien such a great film. Now if the Langoliers actually followed that principle, it wouldn't have sucked nearly as much.

Wow, I forgot to put the word "isn't" in my explanation, as in I like it when the monster ISN'T shown most of the time. Good night, people.

I'm interested in seeing it, but not if the entire film is in that shaky, hand-held format. I know that getting rid of the crew and getting the actors to do the filming as well as act might save a buck and be really 'artistic' but I find it plain nauseating.

Like The Mortician said, I'll let someone else take the bullet for me and see what they say before committing.

And I know that the actors didn't do the filming, I'm talking about the look...

Eh, I don't know whether I'm gonna go see it or not. I'm mildly interested, but I too don't think I could stand the shakiness if it's throughout the whole film.

There is a rumor that all the trailers shown for it so far have absolutely nothing to do with the movie. Which would be awesome if true (if for no other reason than it is a clever way to solve the problem of getting people interested in a movie without giving too much of it away) though it dose open up the potential of going to see a rockin' sci-fi monster battle and getting a face full of romantic comedy.

This would fit in with the super-secrecy that has surrounded the film from the beginning, though it seems at best only 10% likely to be true.

Yes, the entire film is shakey cam, however they didnt get the crew to film it to save money, its still recorded on high quality digital cameras, (handheld indeed) but the film quality was tinkered with in post to make it look.... homemade.

Regardless, the shakeycam is there for a specific reason, to ground us in the action and make us feel a part of it. Theres no reason this isnt going to work, and every reason its going to be an awesome way of drawing you into the movie. Who cares if we arent getting action movie shots of the monster?

That would just make it another Godzilla movie.

Also, if you want to spoil it, hunt around, lots of people have now seen advance screenings and.. yeah. The stuff weve seen clearly relates to the movie, its not a bait and switch.

Although some of the viral footage that is related really forms a backstory and isnt related in the film at all, if thats what you mean (That youtube video of the rig collapsing, etc)

God damn people, just because something is different, dont just dismiss it as "arty".

After all, in the end, its about a giant monster and its little monster pals knocking the shit out of a city.
Jaw droppingly large strawberry desserts.

I think it could be quite decent. But I'm not a review kind of guy. I find that reviewers often look for things that I'm not. I dont care about the poor representation of post modernist designs, I want to know if its entertaining or not, not if its "good" by the standards of a failed movie maker. So I'll either wait til I see something I think is promising (this), or wait til I see someone on the net go "HOLY SHIT AWESOME"

" J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves have created a new classic monster movie. It is everything you expect and it's also nothing you expect. This movie feels so real that it's not even a movie, it's an entire incredible experience." --firstshowing.net

That's one of the first reactions.

ADDENDUM: Time to avoid the net before someone spoilers me for the lulz.
