This is SPARTA!!!

Post by Killbert-Robby »

I got to see 300 last night at a friend's house. Won't go into the legalities >_> But it was awesome quality, and we had a big projector with surround sound and all that awesomeness.

Anyone else seen this yet? I was pleasantly surprised by the movie, because with all the hype I was expecting something really not that great, but the execution was near flawless. The plot is about yea deep *holds hand up to his knee* but that doesn't detract from an extremely entertaining movie. Especially the fight scenes are some of the best I've seen yet, I mean it would slow down and speed up in all the right places. And the cinematogaphy was damn good in places too.

This movie gets my two thumbs up, go see it.

I saw it. Unfortunately I really, really don't like Frank Miller. :shifty: It was very beautiful, but still very him.

On the other hand, there is always this version. Admit it, it would make the movie just that much better.

I love the brief footage of what I can only presume to be Underdog in there.

MM's version is better. I kept wanting to scream SHOW! DON'T TELL! at the movie screen the whole time the narration played.

That is, indeed, one of Frank Miller's problems.

And why all the whores? I mean, in every single thing he does...and it's the WAY he does it, too. Like he's trying to be supportive of women's choices, but just ends up saying, "I GOTS SUM EYE CANDY 4 U!"

Boobs, blood, and distorted electric guitars. This movie is just pure testosterone poisoning. What an un-tapped genre :D

I didn't think I'd like it, but it was neat. And with abs you can grate cheese with.

Vort, sput, and I saw it together.

As a mindless gorefest, it was great fun... but let's be honest: the dialogue is HORRIBLE.

I still liked it, though. Might have something to do with the half-naked men.

I'm sure the half naked women added to your enjoyment as well.

I'm pretty sure the Spartan army didn't go to battle in its underwear.

But other than that, yeah, it was good. :P

on the whole historical inaccuracy thing: 300 was not made to teach you the military history of Classical Greece ... it was made to rock your socks off with bare-chested male awesomeness

Woman, Vort. There was only the one. The men made up for that with sheer numbers.

Sure they did. They were THAT MANLY.

The movie did get some things historically correct, though. There was a storm that wrecked part of the Persian fleet. The Persians did throw infantry with wooden spears and wicker shields against the Spartans, who had shields and spears of bronze (not to mention balls of steel).

I liked it. It was a very good movie for those of us who feel like cavemen in shoes. :)

Complete agreeance, although one scene was filled with just so much satisfaction shouted 'OH GOD YES!' in the middle of the theatre.

I should really shush now ._.:
