As it was loading I was thinking to myself, "The whole point of Escher is that he drew stuff that can't exist in the real world."

soooo coool.

That first picture concerned me a little thinking of the mechanics of "up" given lego blocks build up and the problem of working with gravity based environment.

That Escher piece can actually be built, though, unlike the chair and such. Staying ON it is another matter.

Glue. I can't say for sure that's what they may have used, but it solves many many problems. Unless they had some special bricks or something... :P

Not glue, just a bunch of Technic 1/2 pins and Technic 1x1 beams.

And I see some judicious use of those sideways adapter pieces. (The 1x1 bricks with the one recessed side with the stud with a hole in it. Used for things like holding torches in the castle themed sets.) And I see one Legoman who appears to be laying on his belly propped up with one hand, but because of the angle he appears to be going "up" the stairs.

I think I see the guy you're talking about - but Im not sure his hand is holding him up - you'd see the shadow if it was.

Hmm. You're right. Looking closer, and checking the shots from other angles, it's clear that he is on his belly but neither of his hands is holding him up.

One of his feet is planted pretty firmly on the step 'though. Maybe he's held on with one of those adapter bricks. (What they call "headlight bricks" on the website.)

Guy next to him appears to be stuck to the wall by one of his shoulders. I wonder how they did that.

I've actually seen that before, seeing as I am not only a fan of legos but M. C. Escher is my favorite artist. But thank you for seeing it and thinking of me. I think i might actually have some version of that site on my links page, now that I think about it.
