Foxtrot Changing to Sunday-Only

Post by The Neko »

After almost 18 years of running the comic, Bill Amend is going to change FoxTrot into a Sunday-only strip.

He's been doing it for ages, so I think it's good that he wants to do other things. I'm sure it was a difficult decision.

I hear "For Better or for Worse" may be ending soon by the way.

It's a good move on his part. Fox Trot had gotten stale and lost its energy, and Bill was probably keeping it going for the money.

Hopefully this act'll help encourage some other cartoonists to do the same =P

If I know my fellow cartoonists, this decision was probably easy to come to, but hard to execute. Its hard to make a such a drastic change like that and I'm glad he was able to do it if its for his own benefit. I wish him the best of luck, as I enjoyed Fox Trot alot and it was one of the better newspaper comic strips out there.

I know this is good news to aspiring cartoonists looking to get in the newspapers, it free up one spot in a thousand of newspapers. Glass half full for the win!

Where do you hear that? I loved FBoFW.

I loved this comic growing up, and I never really stopped loving it, but yeah, after 18 years it started to get a slower in terms of the funny. As someone else said, probably looking to do other things, or just take it easy. Who knows. In either case, the guy deserves it for all those years of free entertainment I got.

Wow, I didn't know it'd been around that long! It's one of my favorites, but I haven't read it in awhile.

It's gotten staler than it used to be, but it was still a good comic. Although I'm not sure a newspaper comic was best for his topical humor. I almost cringed when I saw a Wii joke weeks after the news broke.

Yeah, he's a favorite of mine too. Hopefully he'll keep putting a good amount of effort into the Sunday strips. Like grabmygoblin said, I've always liked his commentaries on the latest trend for geeks.

I knew about FoxTrot as there was a press release a while ago, but I didn't know about FBoFW.

I googled it and found several sites which reported that Lynn Johnston intends to retire at the end of her contract in 2007.

Dick Tracy should do the same...

The Sunday strip just reiterates what happened (repetitively) during the week anyway.

And now I've got one less reason to read the paper during the week. :P

I had no idea this comic was still around. It hasn't been in the paper here since I was in Jr. High.

On the plus side, they're replacing it with Pearls Before Swine in the newspaper I get.

Oh god, is that still going? They replaced that for me. I was happy. Until I noticed they replaced it with The Born Loser. :x
