Art for Pay - Children's Illustrators

Okay, I'm going to Xpost this to my journal as well, but I'm hoping plenty of the talented folks here will read this too.

I work for a publishing company and we do some children's books. I would like to find some art from people who would be down with illustrating these kinds of things.

Basically I'm looking for a few 'folio' style pieces if you have them, suitable for children's books, with cutesy pictures of either kids or animals or whatever. Any style, from cartoony to classic art. Let's say three pieces, too, just to be sure.

I'll then be able to print them off/send them to the folks here to see if they're interested in the style etc of your work.

This is nothing definite, please understand. I'd just like to be able to bring some in as samples and see if I can help out some artists find a little freelance work. :)

Hopefully this thread is okay to post without getting some kind of approval... it's not an advertisement, so I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope it's good. :-?

Stinkywigfiddle should do this.

This is Bill.
He's in a Tux.
Here's his guts!
Are you nuts? Don't put Bill's Guts in a Tux!
Wow Bill, that Sux.

Here is Sally.
She takes these pills.
She loves Bill.
Without his guts, she loves him still.
Take pills, love Bill!

All joking aside, he's quite good at children's illustrations. *goes to wake Stinky*

I love children's books.
Comics are very hard to get published in serbia, and there's never money in them. Production of children's picture books, on the other hand, is flourishing, so many of my favourite artists moved to children books illustration. Following them is sometimes the only way to see stuff by my fave artists, and there are some damn good illustrations there.

I'm hoping to get a bunch of people to send me a couple of pieces for this.

The stuff we have now, I am a better artist than them. I'd like to pretend I'm exaggerating, but I am not. :/

I can draw children's book illustrations. And I have too.
There's some examples in my samples page: http://headdoctor.comicgen.com/samples.html

Should I email a couple to you, or what?

Yep, email me some stuff - preferably nothing terribly freaky. I'd also like some cool colour stuff.

Nanda's right. I was kidding about Stinkywigfiddle sending god-knows-what into you. He's got a style that would complement children's books well.

Actually, I think Cameo's style is a good example of the children's illustration-type stuff I could do.

Heh, hey...I can draw cute things!

Should we post them in this thread, or email them to you or what?

I'm incapable of drawing childrens stuff without it being ever so slightly creepy. Here's the closest I got.

I know there's a ton of things wrong with this pic, including the dodgy punctuation on the written bit. Enjoy.

If I get time over the next week, I more than likely will!

Sounds fun. Actually, I've thought of writing and illustrating my own children's books.

Also: Lego, expect fanart in the future just for the vote of confidence.

I made a childrens book once for a class project. every one said I should publish it. I drew everything in MSPaint with a mouse in school, and every one thought it was awsome for some reason. I didn't.
This was the main character... I wound up turning him into a little prick later. :P

EDIT: I had to resize him so I didn't stretch the window and it made him a bit grainy. :S
