There's a snake in my boots! (pic warning for snakephobes)

Post by Fullcircle »

Well, okay, all I own are sandals and he's not anywhere near them, but my baby snake just arrived and I'm beyond thrilled so I'm sharing with everyone who'll listen! His name is Falkor, and he's a miami phase corn snake. He's a little shaken up from his trip (he was mailed to me from Texas) and getting a feel for his new home.

Hard to get good pics of him, he's nervous and fast! But here's what I have so far :)

Image

The little deli cup he arrived in. Welcome home, Falkor!

Image

Investigation!

Image

Here's how insane I am about making his habitat pretty. Kind of Grecian Fantasia style.

Image

Scared to death and hiding in the decor. Poor little guy.

Image

My favorite pic. He's investigating the little Southern Oracle like Sphinx decor, and you can see his patterns pretty clearly :)

Thanks for indulging me! I can't wait till he's all settled in so I can cuddle him. /(^v^)\

Getting shipped is pretty traumatic, so he'll need to be left alone to adjust for the next couple of days. Poor little guy. He's hiding under the substrate and warming up by the heating pad. So tiny! :) And I thought my diamond doves were bitty! His Neverending Story name is also further evidence of my geekery. One of our doves is named Q from Star Trek Next Gen, and we have a cockatiel named Zell after FF8. The rest of our critters have fairly normal names.

This is more or less what he'll look like when he's all grow'd up. They have such sweet little faces! And his tummy is all checkerboard like maize.

*spoils Falkor rotten* /(^v^)\

Ohmigod....Neverending Story! :o That's like the best thing ever. Falkor...so clever.

Where on earth did you find a sculpture of the southern oracle? Is it a sphinx figure that just happened to look like it?

We found it on e-bay! Practically anything can be found on e-bay ;) The Southern Oracle were Greek style sphinxes as apposed to Egyptian style, so I went on a Greek sphinx hunt. My fiancee and I are big Henson geeks, so couldn't resist :)

Here's the one we got for Falkor which looks just like the ones in The Neverending Story

And here is one that's facing sideways in a mildly creepy Cheshire cat sort of way.

Snakes... why did it have to be snakes...?

Just kidding, obviously. Cool looking snake, and terrarium, I must say.

Eight, but I have a friend with like 16 birds and who knows how many fish so I don't feel *too* crazy ;)

1 cat, 1 rabbit, 1 cockatiel, 2 diamond doves, 2 mice, and now 1 baby luck dragon.

This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

I would think most snakes would be considered large for Pocket Kitties.

Then it did it's job... *evil laughter*

And may I say that I love the name. "Falkor" roxxorz.
Guess Fullcircle has a lot of fond memories of that luck dragon.

I use that ringtone for my roommate so whenever he calls my pants start going 'dum da dum daaaa dumdadaaaaaa da DA!

And cool snake! Very cute. I had a good chuckle at how this Miami snake came from Texas, however. Hehe
