Right . . . so I had one post less than 1700, and I was getting impatient waiting for a reply to a current thread, and I was a little worried about reviving a dead one without something of substance . . . so I made this purposely purposeless thread.

I'm gonna be in so much shit unless someone can pretend that this was all just a prelaid plot to start discussing some subject that wouldn't come up otherwise.

I bet, on a good day, you could shoot your self by aiming straight up.
You might need to be in a vacuum or use a huge bullet, but you could so do it.

The Earth rotates, and the centrifugal effects means that if you shoot straight up, and don't move, and the bullet doesn't get affected by wind, it will end up hitting the ground somewhere else.
Hitting yourself shooting a weapon anywhere but at you is pretty darn unprobable.

Although, if you use something with a big projectile and relatively short range (say a crude catapult and a big rock) to launch said projectile straight up, you might want to move to avoid being crushed.

You know, you could just point the barrel at your face and save all the trouble of running around trying to get the projectile to land on you.

But on a good day, the wind would be just strong enough to counter earth's spin, causing the bullet to land right on top of your head, peircing your skull, your brain stem, your spine, your lungs, your liver, and various other internal and external organs.

You forget, though, that the bullet is moving at the same rate you are.
