I've actually found catgirl anime vaguely hard to find, I've only found 3 series, infact: Dominion Tank Police, Hyper Police, and All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku.
...Outlaw Star, DiGi Charat, Samurai Pizza Cats, Kiki the Novice Angel, Appleseed, Outlanders, Pilot Candidate, Geobreeders, Escaflowne, Dragon Pink... I'm sure I'm missing a lot. Does whatshername from Chobits or Shampoo from Ranma count?

Dammit, I used to watch Samurai Pizza Cats as a kid too...

I will say right here and now: Shampoo does not count, she's a were-cat, not a cat-girl. Thing I think is kinda funny, there are pics of Ranma dressed up as a catgirl...
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

On the note of seeing anime when you're way too young, I rented a Guyver episode one time when I was... eight or nine, and man, that nearly screwed me up for good. I only watched about the first twenty minutes, and I turned it off right after Guyver broke this big monster's arms in half, and was about to do something to it's head. It was a weird day after that...

I have trouble getting into manga, though I do enjoy some of the older stuff (which I can't think the name of right now. It was something yeahduff had left at the desk in the gallery we both worked at. That was also how I got to read Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. )

Anyway, in terms of anime, probably Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and FLCL. Yay.

More cat-girl anime: Tokyo Mew Mew, and Magical Meow Meow Taruto.

Sci-Fi's overly censored anime showings is actually how I discovered Dominion Tank Police (and in general, Masamune Shirow).

My mother is the person who really got me into it, and Project A-Ko was one of the first I saw.
Both Project A-Ko and Ranma 1/2 have a special place in both of our hearts.

Regaurding the Catgirl thing, I feel incredibly stupid now...

I had to read some really shitty manga at work, but sometimes there were also really good ones. Probably the best art that I've encountered came from MPD Psycho. The stories were pretty variable, but the one that I ended up enjoying the most was Musashi #9.

A bunch of the stuff that TokyoPop started picking up is prettymuch bad from most angles. Viz usually picks up pretty nice titles though, since they have a lot of Shueisha and Shogakkukan titles.

That could be because Tokyopop seems to have this "snatch up everything and publish it really quickly -- we don't even have time for that spell-checker!" philosophy ... or possibly because the majority of manga is juvenile, derivative, or generally crappy. (Although I agree, Viz has licensed a number of great titles. I've pre-ordered volume 1 of Monster.)

I took a look at that series and ... man, why do the Germans get a translated version and we don't?! I read a few chapters, and now I really wish an English company would license it... :(

I'm currently reading Hellsing, I think because someone in this thread said it was really good and I needed something to read. It's ok. Not great, but good enough for me to be curious about the storyline and continue reading it. Funnily (is that a word?) enough my friends and I used to joke that the ultimate villains would be zombie cyborg nazis, so I laughed a lot at the whole zombie nazi villains in it.

That makes me think of Johnny Mnemonic, actually. They were doing pretty good with Cyborg Assassin Jesus, but then they had to do a fake-out and bilk me out of Zombie Cyborg Assassin Jesus.

. . . Yeah, that was a spoiler. And if anyone cares I spoiled part of Johnny Mnemonic, I'll laugh at them.

You shouldn't mock such a masterpiece. Keanu Reeves deserves an Oscar for his portrayl of the true, and harrowing tales of a bike messenger.
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

I just fail to see why screaming about wanting a hooker made his character sympathetic to the female lead.

What I really wish, though, is that they'd bring the Read or Die manga over.

You know, I haven't seen that movie for so long that I can't remember a damn thing about it except that jesus is evil and dolphins are hackers.
