mah work desktop. I use webshots, so every day my background rotates... I've been building the actual photo database now for over 5 years, I've got like 300 different scenery shots that rotate constantly. I find it very serene... but anyhoo!

I've always wanted a way to make my wallpapers rotate automatically. Tell me more, sir.Netpoet wrote:mah work desktop. I use webshots, so every day my background rotates... The software's found at http://www.webshots.com and it's totally free, spyware free, etc etc... basically, it will search your main picture folders for any and all images (which you can then delete, change, add to, etc) and then rotate em as your desktop background on whatever schedule you want, and it goes down as low as like an hour or so. I've used it for a few years, and it's gotten VERY user friendly and just fun to use over the years.
I leave mine on a one day rotation, because I don't typically SEE much of my background during the day anyway, so there's no need for it to be changing a lot.
And heh, my desktop today was amusing.

Cope loves my spiders, yes he does.
Heh, it's been a LONG while since I pulled out spider pictures. I'm going to have to go find some of those for my desktops, thanks for reminding me Cope.

Ugh. I couldn't stand KDE 4. >_<BeefotronX wrote:4.Phact0rri wrote:oh running the KDE now. nice is it 3.5 or 4?BeefotronX wrote:Well I just decided to make mine more awesome.
I'm rollin' with xmonad/xfce right now, so there isn't much to see. On top of that, my background program's broke, so my background's the KDM background. >_< ...I REALLY need to reinstall.
Re: Show Me Your Desktops 2: But Move Your Damn Porn First
I finally installed Webshots last night and it's pretty cool. It takes some patience to figure out how to use it the first time though, doesn't it? I didn't like the way it resized images larger than my native res (which is most of my saved wallpapers), so I had to go through and edit a bunch of them to make them the right size. It's cool though, now that it actually works. I woke up this morning and this was my new wallpaper.Netpoet wrote:The software's found at http://www.webshots.com and it's totally free, spyware free, etc etc... basically, it will search your main picture folders for any and all images (which you can then delete, change, add to, etc) and then rotate em as your desktop background on whatever schedule you want, and it goes down as low as like an hour or so. Well, remember that I've been using it for a few years, I'm used to its interface by this point.
And yeah, I forgot to m ention how it'll resize any large images you have (though it doesn't touch the source, which is nice... only resizes the copy that it uses for its software).

Re: Show Me Your Desktops 2: But Move Your Damn Porn First
I used webshots for years... Dunno why I stopped, I suppose I got bored of scenery wallpapers, and there was not a great choice of others back then. Another issue is that my desktop is cramped so I have to choose something that's very simple in order to be able to see my icons... randomizing my desktops is not exactly good.

When I first left home, I used Vista's background changer to cycle pictures of good times past.

I think that that wasn't an option back when I was last using it, it was several years ago.

Re: Show Me Your Desktops 2: But Move Your Damn Porn First
yeah, a few years back, you could only use the images found on Webshots... although you could still upload pictures *TO* the webshots website and then have it be converted that way, but that was an annoying as hell workaround.
Today's version is much nicer.
