When cleaning my room one summer day, I found this single page, torn out of an old G.I. Joe comic: I was intrigued by the image, and had my first fit of nostalgia, looking fondly back on my even younger days of playing with Joes in the dirt, watching the cartoons on Saturday morning, and looking at my older brother's comics, even though I couldn't read them. I decided then and there that comics were cool. Within the next couple of weeks, I had managed to find some old Joe comics in a used book store in my town, and convinced my mom to buy them for me. My career as a comic collector had officially begun.
Reading through a few of the stories, seeing all the action and interesting characters, I was inspired to start making my own comics featuring ninjas with Uzis. From there, my life took the direction I'm still following.
I wish I could say that this path has further led me to success, love and fulfillment, and other great things that comics seem to have led others on this forum to, but so far it's only led to poverty, frustration, and feelings of inadequacy. So, at least I know I'm on the road of a true artiste.
Now you know, "And knowing is half the battle!" (The other half of the battle being explosions and blood.)
