Yes, That's why I picked HL2. But HL's shotgun was much more fun to use than Halo's. I mean, if the shotgun doesn't knock your enemy on it's ass, there's really no point.JexKerome wrote:Half Life has a shotgun, so does Halo. By the way, Halflife 2. Why? Cause it had an awesome shotgun. If a shooter doesn't have a fun shotgun, there is no point. 8) (Oh. And Snarks. You can't beat the Snark)

Funny, never saw anything in Halo fail to be thrown backwards a few yards when nailed full-on by the shotgun. It's my preferred weapon for taking on the Flood for exactly that reason.KittyKatBlack wrote:Yes, That's why I picked HL2. But HL's shotgun was much more fun to use than Halo's. Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Hmmm... well, apparently the HL shogun was much more memorable for some reason.JexKerome wrote:Funny, never saw anything in Halo fail to be thrown backwards a few yards when nailed full-on by the shotgun. Half Life 2 would totally be cooler if you were able to play as a shogun.KittyKatBlack wrote:Hmmm... well, apparently the HL shogun was much more memorable for some reason.JexKerome wrote:Funny, never saw anything in Halo fail to be thrown backwards a few yards when nailed full-on by the shotgun. IMHO, the most memorable shotgun ever was the sawed off one in Doom 2. You could almost feel your victim's pain, and I always smiled a wicked grin when reloading.KittyKatBlack wrote:Hmmm... well, apparently the HL shogun was much more memorable for some reason.JexKerome wrote:Funny, never saw anything in Halo fail to be thrown backwards a few yards when nailed full-on by the shotgun. Reload? I don't think you reloaded anything. Did you stick new shells in the barrels?JexKerome wrote:IMHO, the most memorable shotgun ever was the sawed off one in Doom 2. You don't remember? You must be very young, no offense intended. In Doom 2 you didn't reload as you do now, but since the shotgun was a two-slug weapon, everytime after you fired it it would go through an animation showing the marine popping the shotgun open, slipping in a pair of huge shells, and snap the thing together with a loud crack. The action just looked mean and cool. Of course, you couldn't fire during the animation, so it was just to show the weapon's fire delay.collapse wrote:Reload? I don't think you reloaded anything. It was, at least for a time, downloadable for free from the company's website. I grabbed it.Jim North wrote:I've never gotten to play the original System Shock, sadly, though not for lack of trying. It's almost like every single copy of the game completely disappears whenever I try to look for it.

Anyone notice this?
Yes, HALO is a great game (haven't had a chance to play HALO 2 enough to give an opinion on that yet) but not many people know that HALO takes some general ideas out of a series of games from 94' and up, made by Bungie (which made HALO)...anyone ever heard of Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal, or Marathon Infinity: Blood Tides of Lh'owon?
The most blalent rip out of Marthon is the rocket launcher, if you notice is says "SPNKR" on the side....thats from the SPNKR-X18 rocket launcher from the Marathon series...then we have the master chief, he's basically a graphically updated version of the cyborg-marine hero from the Marathon series. They're also both cyborg soldiers that are the best of the best. You can even get the overcharge and inviso items in Marathon (They look pretty much the same too)...Then there's the AI, in the first Marathon you have an AI named Leela who helps you and gives you objectives...same attitude as the female AI in HALO, just a different name.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying HALO is in anyway a bad game (although it tends to bring out the worst in people, out of ANY game I've ever played) HALO has some very great aspects to it...the vehicles, weapons, the gameplay, graphics etc. I just thought that the storyline and some of the names seem to be a revamped version of Marathon stuff...
*waits to be flamed by all the HALO lovers out there*
