1. Try to find another animation job. I miss that.

2. Continuing to frequent Joani.

3. Starting back swimming, it was quite pleasant and helped me feel good.

So, I was looking through last year's resolution thread, because it's fun to see how much of a failure you are, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didn't bite off too much to chew. I must be getting wise in my old age. My list was:

Print some books.
Establish an online presence once again.
Do some conventions.
Become an expatriot.
(oops, spelled it wrong!)
Possibly commit an abduction.

I did print some books, I did get a table at a con, and I do have an online presence once again, for what it's worth. The expatriation and the abduction never did happen, but they were more pipe dreams than anything. All in all, I was actually kinda productive as a cartoonist. Good for me!

So, what do I want to do with myself this year? Heady from such a great track record, I just might list some more specific goals, especially as an artist and cartoonist.

Continue to be a great student.
Print some more books, giving time specifically to Stuart Tickman and Those Two.
Finish a couple of the Grimm's Fairy Tales adaptations that I've been working on.
Start work on what may just prove to be my life's defining project-- a dutiful graphic adaptation of Malory's Le Morte d' Arthur.
If I can find the money and time, I'd like to travel some.
Maybe make a friend or two. Last year was pretty lonely.

That's really about all there is I can think of.
Considering what I came up with last year, good idea Buster, I've only failed on the 300 part. Everything else was achieved. But, I actually will have more time now to work on physical fitness, so I'm feeling good.. The ones I've set up for myself now are all achievable. Interesting that I had 4 last year, and 4 this year.

BrownEyedCat wrote:It's pretty far into the year to be stating resolutions, but that won't stop me! I've been mulling them over, and it looks like my resolutions have turned out to be:

Write in my journal everyday (i.e., justify my purchase of a journal)
Finish three non-essential, free-time projects (because I'd like to complete something, dammit)

And there we go. We'll see how they turn out.

Let's see how I made out:

Resolution 1 - I didn't write in the journal every day, but I DID write and entry FOR every day. Almost. I officially dub that 'close enough'.
-WIN-

Resolution 2 - I'm on the fence with this one, because I kept doing this thing where I'd say 'I'll let this count, unless I do something else' then deciding they didn't count. I was hoping my NaNoNovel would be the 3rd, but that didn't get off the ground, and then I was hoping this painting would be the third, but I didn't finish it in time. So here are the remaining candidates:

'Bitter Tears of Joy' K-Dawg Challenge comic: A-OK!
Apron sewing project for my Halloween Costume: WIN!
Half-finished painting: Doesn't quite count...
My Little Pony lollipop machine mod: Totally cool, but kind of skimpy compared to the work-fests that the apron and the comic were...
A specific story-arc of my comic: This is the one I said would count in a pinch, but now I'm not buying it.
The journal itself: The ultimate copout!

I'm not sure whether or not to give this the 'close enough' rubberstamp. Everyone, what are your opinions?

Now, as for this year's resolution:

Make a Calendar for real this time, dammit! Every year I decide that all of the calendars at the stores are mundane and boring, and that I can just print out the month bit then add drawings of my own that are relevant to me and my life. Then I never do. But dammit, this year I will! No restriction on the images except that if they're not in color, there had better be a reason.

Additionally, I intend to make up holidays, celebrate them in some fashion, and add them to next year's calendar.

You may have noticed that I tend not to make resolutions about important things. That's to a) stave off depression and b) prod me into continuing doing extracurricular activities

1. Play WoW less, Draw more.
2. Spend less time on Tv Tropes, Draw more.
3. Talk to friends more. They're my friends, I mean, COME ON myself, stop being a hermit.
4. Do research on how to survive on my own in life (including what I will need to do to get my own place, earn enough money to feed, clothe, and shelter myself while in college as well as pursuing my dream of publishing a graphic novel.)
5. Get a high enough score on my SAT to confirm my PSAT eligibility for a National Merit Scholarship. (I got into the top 1%, if you're interested. Perfect score in critical reading, at least top 4% in math and writing.)
6. Do a few comic projects to improve my drawing and story skill.
7. Get a job.

- Exercise more (I'm not as rail-thin as I used to be)
- Get my final driver's license
- Post here at least occasionally so people remember I'm still alive
- Accomplish something of value with my free time at some point
- Probably some other generic self-improvement things

Actually it can basically be summed up in one:

- Fix everything from 2008

That's a job that'll probably take all year.

for all you people starting an exercise routine I have two bits of advice.

1> start out slow. don't over tax yourself, its a building process and you hurt your body to much its gonna be hard to keep it routine.

2> remember its gonna be a chore for the first month and half, but keep at it. psychologists say once you do something 22 times it turns into a habit. Good luck, keeping a regular fitness regiment is an awesome thing, not just to keep looking good, but in time you feel wonderful, and you'll wonder why you didn't start doing it sooner.

My last year's resolutions:
Last year I wrote:Personal:
* Lose weight by exercising more.
-- Actually started that.

Family:
* Get Beth pregnant
-- She's cool with this goal too.

Webcomics:
* Make Cookout V really something special.
* Conclude Reasoned Cognition.
* Begin properly updating Outlier every two weeks.
* Learn to draw a person without going insane.
I stopped exercising, but I did lose weight. And I'm trying again. [partial]
I DID get Beth pregnant! :D [success]
Cookout V something special. Folks seemed to enjoy it, minus the food fubar. [success]
Conclude Reasoned Congnition. :shifty: [fail]
Begin updating Outlier every two weeks. [fail]
Learn to draw a person without going insane. I worked on it. It still drives me nuts. [partial]

Last year I resolved here to pick a concentration and I did, I picked two.
Still can't move out cause Steven hasn't graduated yet-that was the uni's fault, they lied to him about his degree plan.

My resolutions posted to my journal last year were:
This year I resolve to:
Take a bookmaking class-check
Pick a concentration-check
Actually update Avernyght and finish the first story of it-so close! I had some set backs due to school and didn't finish but it's really close to being done, 10 pages close
Paint more :)-check!
Storyboard Little Lost Child- started but got sidetracked by the Avernyght book I did for my bookmaking class
Oh and get a forum for Avernyght....-check I joined Milk in the Pantry with NJ and Bean and Cope :)
I also resolve to blog more >_>-check! I updated my lj alot last year compared to the year before

Now for this year?
Paint even more :D!
Have a kickass senior show!
Finish all my studio classes
Maintain my gpa so I can graduate with honors in 2010
now for an easy one, finish the first Avernyght story.
