I don't know why, but I get the urge to giggle every time I read this line.mvmarcz wrote:It's not like the magazine said "chain him down and moisturize him!"
I used to use Lynx anti-perspirant (with it's bizarre 'fragrances' - AFRICA, COSMIC, WARFARE, stuff like that - which were all pretty much the same) until I realised it was completely useless.

Okay, edit: I despise the women who make money printing things like this.
I think of it this way- If a guy gave his sig. other a facial scrub and it said on it "good for blackheards", she'd probably be offended. And Cosmo would tell her she had every right to be because her man has no right controlling her or her hygeine. Women are the biggest users of the double-standard and it makes me nuts!
The article didn't really make me mad, but I did wanna share it because it's the epitome of mothering females.

I'll take the mothering psychology of the female over the violent, brutish psychology of the male any day.Sketchywallflowr wrote:The article didn't really make me mad, but I did wanna share it because it's the epitome of mothering females.
Darn Mother Nature. She has no concept of equality.

Most guys to an extent like to be taken care of, even if they grumble.Sketchywallflowr wrote:Okay, edit: I despise the women who make money printing things like this.

Would you quit making blanket statements like that?! Not all women are these women. And yeah, people give women bath products all the time and it's never offensive. I get them every year from a relative who doesn't know me very wellSketchywallflowr wrote:Okay, edit: I despise the women who make money printing things like this.

What about "the epitome of mother women" means in any way "every single woman on Earth"? That wasn't a blanket statement, it was pretty specific. Maybe I should have put smothering women, since that's what I really mean.Komiyan wrote:Would you quit making blanket statements like that?! Not all women are these women.
...Though you're right, women using double-standards was a blanket statement. But again, there are exceptions to every rule. Mostly I refer to the women Cosmo targets.
For example (another thing that bugs me), in the embarassing stories section, the women reveal "steamy secrets" and "scandalous stories", implying it's daring and fun. Men, however, have "dirty deeds" and "shameless scams", meaning when they cheated on their partner it was disgusting and wrong. But for the girls it was okay.

I think a big part of the problem is that advertising dollars spent trying to woo men from their personal hygene products doesn't work that well. Honestly, how many commercials do you see trying to woo men away from their shampoo? Or their soap. Or anything EXCEPT razors and shaving cream? Sure, there's cologne, but even then, the commercials have to be outlandish - The women-magnet Tag commercial comes to mind.
By comparison, commercials for women's hygene products generally highlight the actual uses of the product, it's qualities, and some kind of actual reason why you'd want to buy the product.
Likewise, how many car commercials have you seen geared towards women lately? When was the last commercial for home tools you saw that had a woman in it (who was there for something other than her breasts?) Or the last lawnmower commercial featuring a woman happily commenting on the turning radius and dual-action cutting blades?
Advertising dollars follow the catagory of person most likely to make that purchasing decision. There are men who care about their hygene, and there are women who change their own oil. But, there are MORE women who care about their men's hygene, and MORE men who change the oil in their wife's car.
It sucks, but there it is.

Whoa, that's Nanda's favorite scent! It's like... you're a parallell Nan!mrs_rkolter wrote:Cosmo's boring.
As for girly stuff. I like the stuff that smells more manly, like sandalwood. If I wanted to smell like a fruity drink, I go to a girly bar.
.....are you my sister?
