Metal Slug. That game was awesome. It's not a fighter, but fighter games are all about button mashing.

I miss the Metal Slug 2 machine the bowling alley used to have. I remember when they had Aadams Family Pinball, Area 51, Metal Slug 2 and Samurai Showdown. All good games.

Now they have Austin Powers Pinball, Crusin Exotica, and one of those god damn redneck hunting machines.

I'd also say that Smash Bros is almost impossible to win by just button mashing.

True, unless nobody pays any attention to what you're doing.

Whenever I see people mash buttons in a fighting game, they end up losing pretty badly. Unless they're fighting someone who also mashes buttons. Then they usually just jump around till the timer runs out.

I still prefer Konami over anyone though. They gave us Castlevania, Contra, and Gradius.
You're totally gay for Gradius.
Maybe so, but that doesn't hold true for this little gem. NSFW. Sort of.

i haven't seen a fighter game yet that was deep, most modern ones have been all about the realistic *ahem* physics involved.

*goes back to playing B. Sokal's paradise*

I'm not a gamer. I have no gaming console. I HAD a few when I was a kid, but that's... a long time ago.

No, I have nothing insightful to add to this conversation, but just because there's so friggin' many gaming threads these days won't stop me from posting. :x

The only active one maybe, but I had a feeling these last months there was just an amazing load of gaming threads, superhero movie threads, and oh... we haven't had a drunk thread for a while now, what's up with that?

Eh, never mind, I guess I'm just not geeky enough to appreciate this stuff. ;) I don't mean to spoil your fun.

I'm not really much of a gamer either. I've never even played anything by SNK. Except Athena on NES, which SUCKED.

I hate those drunk threads by the way.

I don't like drunk threads, but I like drunk people on IRC. I almost got Stinky to print out porn and put it all over his house when he was drunk.
You know, i should work on this.
