Or Rupert.
They get my vote!
Yay! :D

I wouldn't mind a planet Persephone, myself, seriously . . . it's a nice name and fits in quite well with the whole mythology bit, since Persephone is Pluto/Hades' wife and all.

With Rupert, however, all we get is blown up by spacebrained aliens obsessed with astrology. But such is life.

Actually, there's a lot of dispute going on about whether or not people will accept this object as a new planet. Apparently, it calls into question whether or not Pluto is really a planet, and that debate has been going on for 50 years.

I always liked the 'object compressed into a spheroid by it's own gravity, directly orbiting a star' definition, but I guess there are too many of them now. What's the new definition, 'We know one when we see one'?

Why don't you call it "Stop Making Reality Shows."

...then everyone will know.

And with that name, it makes me wonder if there's another planet named "Gabrielle" out there, looking for some-- Oh god, I can't even say it.

Well, I suppose if I don't say "Planet Bob" at this point, someone else probably will.

Unfortunately Joel, you were beat.

Not fair! You wouldn't have even known if I hadn't told you.

And they aught to call it planet rkolter, after me. Because.

That rather depends on your perspective on time. I can't help it if everyone else here is constrained to senses that operate in just three dimesions.*

They should name it Planet Spaceball.

But Persephone would be okay, too... if you wanted to be all TRADITIONAL, or whatever...

I would not be surprised if the planet is named Vulcan, because there's been a standing, albeit unwritten, belief amongst the IAU that a tenth planet should be named Vulcan.
