My family knows nothing about Ryan's religion. Learned lesson well with my ex who was bi and an aethist, and let this information slip out. Never will heard the end of it, even to this day.

My mother is really Christian. Sends me Christain related emails. Every time we visit tries to get me to go to church which most of the time we manged to get out of. She keeps telling me I need to go to church (I haven't gonna to church regularly since I was a child) and all that yadda, yadda, yadda.

I'm a believer of find peace within yourself, whatever and with whomever it may be.

That's one classy broad.

People have facets. She's an excellent mother; she is active in her community; she has an ardent love of geology; she has a commanding stature that I can appreciate; she'd risk her life for me in a second - family means everything to her. As far as aunts go, she's one of the better ones you could get. She's more than earned my respect.

She is also a religious zealot who is blind to the harm she causes people who are not of her faith when she automatically tries to convert them or subvert their faith in their own religion in the hopes of converting them in the future.

*shrug* There's not much I can do about the latter. She's got enough good qualities that I don't want to cut her out of my life.

Exactly...my mom will make as much trouble for me as she possibly can, whether she really cares about the thing or not. Which is why Jim has banned her from our apartment. I only stay in contact with her for two reasons. 1: She's still married to dad, and I'm pretty close to him. I don't want to cause any more trouble for him than necessary. 2: I can still milk her for free stuff like lunch from time to time! If it was anyone else, or if I actually cared about her, I wouldn't do this...but she deserves it! I'm gonna get as much stuff out of her as I can. (I know that sounds kinda evil or heartless...but like I said, she deserves it)

I've always wondered why whenever men ask women what they want, and women tell them, they respond with 'That's so gay...' Yet, it's 'manly' to do things that impress their fellow men. It confuses me greatly. But that's becuse men are wierd.

Religious zealots can be entertaining as long as you decide to take them that way. I may have told this story before, but our Religious Education teacher brought in a missionary for the day a few years back. Now, first off, cool. The kids get to hear stories from someone who's travelled the world to exotic locations like India and Russia and stuff. Boys own adventure stuff coming from someone who could be their grandma. Great stuff!

Then she started going on about Hindus and Communists being the 'enemy' and for a few minutes I sat there waiting for the punchline that didn't come. After she'd told the story about a Hindu spitting on her because the Devil in him recognised Christ in her and made him do it...then told us about the bloke imprisoned and tortured with cool stuff in Russia because he believed in Jesus I had to speak up.

I said 'Gee, those Communists sure know how to have fun, eh?'

She gave me a funny look, the kids giggled, and the Religious Education teacher was chuckling into her hand.

One of the memorable half hours I've had in my teaching career so far.

Other than that though, she was a mighty respectable lady.

But yeah, I go to town on religious people. Well, I don't care if they believe in something else. I'm fine with it. But as soon as they try to push their belief on me...ITS AAAWN!

I wonder occasionally how my family would react to knowing that I'm not a Christian, and then how they'd react to knowing I'm a pagan. I don't go out of my way to hide it, but I don't announce it, so I'm hoping that if they ever find out it'll be as me treating it as a non-issue. But then, I had my first ritual earlier this week, for Ostara, and I want to tell my mom about it and how much I enjoyed it, but it's a part of my life I feel I can't let her know about.

this is the benefit of having parents who were raised orthodox christian in a communist environment.

When it comes down to religion... I'm a nothing. Hell, I'm not even an athiest. I accept that people need religion, that one or more of them may be correct - and that I have no way of knowing. But I just... don't care. Religion isn't really important to me at all. It isn't something I need. I was raised without any real knowledge of religion - my dad was raised catholic and hated it, and my mom's family didn't (doesn't) have any religion as far as I know, plus I went to public schools and never really had any interaction with religious people.
Aside from my dad's side of the family. I've been taken to church a couple times (stayed over Saturday nights with relatives), and was just bored and zoned out and thought of other things until I could leave.
My Oma (grandmother) is upset that only one or two of her twelve grandkids has any sort of Catholic belief at all. Apparently she and my Dad had quite a fight when he refused to have us baptised.
I like my Oma. She's a good person - but she's very manipulative when she feels like it and thus I don't like to be around her that much anymore.

As for the sexual issues.. I think I count as straight.
I like to flirt with women, to snuggle and randomly grope (especially when drunk) and I've made out with a few.. but I have no interest in really going any further than I have. Women are fun and I don't have enough of them around me - but I'm in love with men. I like the way they look, the way they smell... the way they are. And overall I seem to understand and get along with them better.
