I want to see this; my brothers saw it on TV and highly recommended it. We tought it was some crazy Hollywood thing, until I read on Grace's livejournal it was an actual play (yeah, so I don't do Shakespeare, sue me; if you're a U.S. resident, you might even get away with it!).

Since then I've heard nothing but good things about both the play and the movie, so maybe I'll get it.
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

I love R&G Are Dead, one of my favourite plays ever. I want to direct it some day... I have never seen the whole movie, we watched a few minutes in class though. I must track this down....

I've said it about Hamlet once, and I'll say it again:
"Okay, class, what happened to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern?"
"They fell through the plot holes and died."

Eeeeeee!

I only managed to see R&G very recently . . . it turns out my local independant video store has it on tape.

I'd read the play in script form, but it's much more vivid on the screen. And someday, I'll see it on . . . the stage!

That would help you appreciate Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, as it takes place in the pages of Hamlet. Not necessarily in the world of Hamlet, so much as literally within the pages.
Oh my! Guildenstern and Rosencrantz on DVD, I wonder if there'll be any special features. :D

The DVD pictured above does not have any special features. That is the Region 4 release tho (Cos I am, you know, an Aussie, and all) and region 4 are generally more stingy about Extra Features than R1 and/or 2.

It was the funniest tragedy ever written... that also happened to have plot holes.

Hamlet is a prince of Denmark, and noting how lineage works, he should have ascended to the throne. Instead, for reasons never explained, the king's BROTHER gains the throne.
