I just purchased a bottle of amaretto not long ago and wonder what I can do with it apart from drinking it just the way it is... which is delicious, don't get me wrong... but... got any nice amaretto cocktail recipe?
Almost tried it straight, but it came out real syrupy, which spooked me a little. I've heard mixing it 1:1 with either Scotch or vodka has pleasant results (The Godfather and The Godmother, respectively), but I had neither around. Considered putting bourbon in it but changed my mind.

You sound a little defensive there.
You sound like you're projecting, there. Which you never hear an alcoholic do ever.
I haven't had Amaretto in many many years, but from what I remember if you just mix it with some kind of soda it's pretty good. Coke works well, as does Dr. Pepper and any root beer. Basically, any of the dark sodas.
Don't know about anything fancier than that, sorry to say.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.
I drank some last night so I probably shouldn't tonight. Isn't there some rule about not drinking two nights in a row?
Besides, I have work I should be doing, or something.
Yet I don't seem to be doing it...
I think amaretto would be good mixed with clear liquors too. I recall one of the better drinks my friends 'invented' was Zima and cherry 7-Up back in college. Very good until you tried to walk.
Well, it's a really good amaretto so mixing it with soda feels kind of.. barbaric. Hmm unfortunately I don't have any scotch or vodka around, might have to try that one day. I could try mixing it with the irish cream I got, but afraid the result might leave me on a alcohol-sugar-rush for days.
Harrumph. I never drink alone, which is my strategy for avoiding becoming an alcoholic. Which means the last time I got drunk was Thursday (Latin music just ain't my thing, and nothing cures being told I'm not American like a beer). Next opportunity: Tuesday.
