Wait a minute? What?!?! Oh well I have all the confidence that Kevin's right on this. The shoes will be stopped!CorpAmis wrote:On Legostar's orders...I made all shoes

I feel it should be pointed out that these special issue shoes appear to be virtually unprotected (or at least they do not have special protection) against land mines, extreme weather (winter, desert, jungle) and terrain conditions (mud, snow, ice, sand)...CorpAmis wrote:On Legostar's orders...I made all shoes

I suggest adding mine protection (thicker soles), AC and/or heaters (depending on deployment) plus covers, filters and whatever other attachments may be warranted by terrain (skies, snowshoes, skates). NBCR-warfare protection should, of course, also be added and improved upon, just in case. I'd also suggest hardening the shoes against HERF-weapons, EMP, electric shocks and cyber warfare attacks.
I'd also recommend improvements to camouflage, night fighting capabilities and mobility/maneuverability aspects.
In the future, additional improvements to consider would be an upgrade of the integrated computer systems to allow for a more network centric system of systems, improvements to the shoes C4I capability and a general redesign and systems integration. I'd also suggest switching the "boot" aspect of the shoe towards something more of a "sneaker" aspect for a more positive response to the public.
EDIT: Upon further consideration, giving the shoes full ASAT-capability and integrating them into a larger ABM-system might go a long way to secure further funding. It should be looked into.

The function comes first and foremost.
Once the shoe can do all that it is required to do at an acceptable cost and manufacturability, we can worry about finding people with the right size and shape feet to use them.

Bah! Capitalism!legostargalactica wrote:my customers demand a certain level of quality and comfort from my weapons of mass destruction and stomping.
*grumbles*
Back in the good old days, we didn't have comfort in our weapons of mass stomping, comfort had you!
And we damned well liked it! And it worked!
You could stomp kilometer after kilometer after kilometer.
You could stomp in mud and in snow and in sand and in wet grass and you wouldn't get stuck and you wouldn't slip.
And if the shoe broke down, you grabbed a knife, some thread and a needle, a hammer and some nails and fixed it yourself.
You could polish it if you liked to, and it would shine, but even if you took the most worn and dirty boot you could find it would stomp properly on the first try, second, twelfth and thirtieth try.
The boots didn't shape themselves after the foot, oh no, we shaped the foot after the boot! And you never saw a more perfect fit!
And quality!? Hah! Quantity, my friend, has a quality all on it's own!

actually most people prefer to do the stomping themselves, they say it's much more satisfying.rkolter wrote:The boots need an autostomp feature.legostargalactica wrote:my customers demand a certain level of quality and comfort from my weapons of mass destruction and stomping.Czar wrote: Comfort is overrated.

But if you provide an autostomp feature, you could then take control of the boots remotely, and have at one time: customers, prisoners, and an army of stomping boots.legostargalactica wrote:actually most people prefer to do the stomping themselves, they say it's much more satisfying.rkolter wrote:The boots need an autostomp feature.legostargalactica wrote: my customers demand a certain level of quality and comfort from my weapons of mass destruction and stomping.
