You know, judging from the movies listed so far, I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that there have been A LOT of movies made in the last eight months, most of which, it seems, have been forgotten in the face of the newest entries. Honestly, check out the full list, it's nine pages long, on this website, and coming up on 700 movies. Here's a short list of a few of the other movies that people have gushed endlessly about, previous to July, just to jog the ol' memory:
TMNT
Pan's Labrynth
Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End
Spider-Man 3
Ocean's Thirteen
Shrek the Third
300
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Ghost Rider
1408
Sicko
Just to name a few.
Personally, I loved Bratz: The Movie. If ever there was to be a movie made based upon a vapid toy line which seems to have the goal of sluttifying America's girl children, this would be it.
Okay, actually, I liked Pan's Labrynth, because it wasn't wat I expected but managed to impress me, and 28 Weeks Later, because I'm obsessed with zombies to the point that I've formulated a survival plan when they show up.

I saw Grindhouse. It was defeated by "Are We Done Yet."Toxic wrote:Grindhouse... which I'm sure no one saw.
Apparently 26 is "old" by Hollywood standards these days.yeahduff wrote:I know, right?Jackhass wrote: Why isn't Julia Stiles in more movies these days?
And Hollywood can bite my ass.
I gasped loudly when I saw this preview. It looked like "Clueless" and "Mean Girls," except not good.bustertheclown wrote:Personally, I loved Bratz: The Movie. Hollywood is a pretty damn competitive market. It's not necessarily that she's 'old' as that there are other actresses who are 'hotter commodities' than she is. But yeah, people do get 'old' quickly by those standards... My husband has a friend who's gotten 'too old' for modeling at, like, 22... (She's also already graduated from college and lawschool at that age, so I'm not exactly worried about her job prospects as an apparently gorgeous genius, but it's still a little odd to think of someone being 'too old' at 22.)
That said... Julia Stiles has been in a lot of movies lately. At least according to the Wikipedia she's still been in plenty of movies lately... And that entry probably hasn't been vandalized by Diebold :P
I don't have enough experience with Bratz to judge them (the toy store I used to work for was 'upscale' enough that even Barbies were a little low-class for us) but at least apperance-wise it seems to me that a lot of the opposition/reaction to them is more based on race/racial differences than the dolls themselves. I mean, they look black/Hispanic to me, and different cultural groups do have different standards of what counts as 'slutty' or not--imagine what someone from Saudi Arabia would think of your typical Barbie...

Oh, Pan's Labyrinth was this year? Well mark that two, then.
Grindhouse was one of the few movies I did wanna see this year, but everyone I could go with saw it before I did. Bastards.
And Transformers? Eh, maybe I'm too cynical, but I have no interest in watching 80s nostalgia being cashed in on a 90-minute GM commercial.

oi stand by stardust.
I haven't seen 300 yet, and all the other movies I have seen this summer were substandard to good. stardust was unique, it wasn't a sequel, and it made me laugh quite hard. hot fuzz comes a close second though.

I did forget 300. How did I forget it?
It was awesome.
Pirates 3 is not going on my top ten list for the sole reason that ELIZABETH SWANN IS A HOFACE BIATCH AND SHOULD GO BACK TO THE KITCHEN WHERE SHE BELONGS.
*cough*
Also
I saw Pan's Labyrinth last night.. I thought it was neat, but I don't think I'd put it on my top ten list. That little girl had a tendency to be a stupid bitchface and we actually yelled at the TV a few times while watching it.
So there.
