Worst Animated Flick Ever

Post by Frankodragon »

I'd like to ask about what kind of animated flicks whether movie, on retail or on television you felt that were the Worst you've seen. This does not include any Flash or amateur animations including static images like comics.

My vote is for an obscure space animated movie called "Defenders of Space". It's about some girl and guy who's city gets nuked and they have to fight some Smurf creature on steroids. So they go to find this "phoenix" which is really a "Transformer" and defeat this oversized smurf.

The animation looks really cheap; the guy falls down a mountain and he just keeps falling going "ahhhhhhh!" The voice-overs must of been recorded in a bathroom; you should hear the "smurf's voice--it's laughably bad.

I'm not sure if I can decide on worst animated movie, but I assure you that the Planet of the Apes animated series would give most contenders a run for their money.

I was going to include Flash Gordon, but there was some actual good animation nestled within the crap.

i'm not terribly sure if most of the adult swim lineup would count as animation... but it SUCKS nonetheless.

The Lion, the Witch, and the wardrobe cartoon. Its like the most horrible thing I've seen. The voice acting, the animation, its just all so awful.

For best and worst, look no further than Galaxy Express 999.

The original is a masterful tale of a young boy's journey of love, loss and friendship while learning that revenge doesn't solve anything.

The Roger Corman dub version has a guy named Sundown McMoon.

You've got to be - Sundown McMoon?

I don't know if that is best reused for hilarity value or wiped from the collective consciousness of all human thought.

One of the many, many, many things that strikes me as a red flag in that promo is that the two main characters only have one line each, and they're both very generic lines, matching their very generic character designs.

They are totally uninteresting by any means. Also, why demonize Paris, of all characters? The guy wasn't that much of a jerk. If you've got to do star-crossed lovers, fine, by why even pretend it's Shakespeare's version?

I am complaining about this in far too much detail for anyone's sanity! Grar!

One line each? I only counted one line between them.
I don't want to watch it again to re-count . . . especially after I went and watched another trailer for it.

All I can say is: "it's disgusting, scandalous, I can't stand it, it's an outrage, I think I'm gonna be sick, I'm mortified, it's horrible, I can't believe my eyes, it's just not right."

To be fair, there are all those Land Before Time sequels to consider.

Edit: On the other hand, there's always the anime take on Romeo and Juliette.
...
Okay, I admit it. The inner five year old in me REALLY WANTS that flying dragony horse thing.

I uh... watch that anime. It's interesting, but i have mixed feelings about it. Somehow, William Shakespeare is one of the main characters in the story, portrayed as a whiny-pitched writer with no audiences.

My vote... will probably have to go to did the Mutant Ninja Turtles anime. I tried watching it. I couldn't. I simply couldn't.
You know, i should work on this.

If you ignore the fact that it's called Romeo and Juliet and has utterly mutilated Shakespeare and his work, it actually makes a decent fantasy anime.

It's one line each if you count "No!" as a line.

Oh my GOD that second trailer is even worse than the first.

See. That is why I dislike a lot of the anime that people fawn over. The producers COULD have made a decent adaptation and set it in the historical and cultural time and place. Since they don't have any kind of aversion to drawing environments that LOOK like Renaissance Italy. BUt they decided to make it a city, floating in the clouds.

Romeo and Julia is hardly an underappreciated work by any means, but the original message of the story was:

DON'T DO THIS!

From the trailer and description of that anime, they have replaced that with this bullshit of the Juliet character "discovering her true heritage."

In my opinion, this doesn't add anything to the work, and its only purpose is to obscure the meaning of the play with all this fantasy stuff that is ripped fromt he archetypical "Journay of the Hero."

Shrek 3.

Well actually it's just the worst animated movie I've watched recently...but that doesn't negate it's general stinkiness.
