I never went on an actual date with a girl until I was 26, and that was just once with some girl on eHarmony. I never had an actual girlfriend until I was 27.

There! Top that!

Similarly, I've considered on several occasions swearing off dating entirely and dedicating myself as a career soldier, including overseas/combat deployments. Fortunately, some little voice of reason still stops me from following through on the first part, and I've not had the opportunity for the second part.

Okay, here we go.

I too am one of those people who worries people put on an act around me, especially when it comes to dating. I hate never knowing just what I'm dealing with.

I'm 35 and I have never asked a girl out on a date. And I've been married for 8 years.

Also, I tend to disappear from forums for months on end.

It's not their fault. The forum is responding oddly slow for me tonight, too.

*I actually know the show that DM's current avatar came from. In fact, I have two of their characters as my desktop wallpaper.

Not a deep, dark secret, but it's been amusing me for a while.

Despite not really having been in many, I give out good relationship advice to people. Of course, getting them to listen is something more difficult.

I'm actually good at giving out most kinds of advice, because most of the time I just sit there and listen.

...it's still hard getting people to actually listen to what I tell them, ungrateful bastards :x.

This is a deep, dark secret because I'm sure most people see me as a boogyman.

I used to feel this way, until I realized that people don't want solutions, they just want to complain. They'll think you're a better friend for sitting, listening, and not helping at all than actually giving them workable advice they just don't want to do.
