Aw... That's depressing. One less crazy man in the world, but still depressing.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

I quite liked Steve Irwin. Once I sent him an e-mail on behalf of my little bro who is a HUGE fan, and Steve is literally his role model. What did I get in return? A reply the next morning, and I was mailed a wwhole bunch of things from his zoo and an autographed card. I grew up watching this show, and the first thing I hear this morning is that the guy's dead. It's just a damn pity...

Yeah, we talked about this in the chat for quite awhile last night... Thought a thread would probably result, but I really didn't want to be the one to start it. We've always loved Steve Irwin in this house. You could tell just by watching the guy that he genuinely cared; for the animals, for his wife and kids, for his friends. I can't even imagine what Terry Irwin is going through right now.

It is pretty surprising. Stingrays aren't even aggressive; when threatened they wave their tails around and try to escape. If he'd just been stung it probably wouldn't have been a big deal (I think it even happened to him before) but the barb cut him deep in the chest.

This shouldn't be surprising, but it is. Mostly I feel bad for his wife and kids, but they must have known there was a pretty huge chance of the happening..

A stingray, though? I hear this makes him only the second person to have been killed in Australia by a ray.

Sad though, that a man who survived so many crocodiles, dies from a measily stingray.

Yeah, that is a nice one.

As had been said, at least he died doing what he loved.

Yeah. I feel so sorry for his wife and especially his kids. :( I mean, they're awefully young.

Oh yes, we all mourn the human who did STUPID things of which the rest of you agreed were STUPID things you never would have done yourself.

On the other hand, you also might have noticed that he refused to get near any bunnies. So, he may not have been so foolish after all.

I always thought he was kind of an ass. Still, not enough an ass to want him dead by stingray barb shoved into his chest. Ick.

I never said anything like that about Steve Irwin. I thought he was great. So can I have the right to mourn? :-?

Oh yes, by all means. You're gonna need the practice for when death makes an angel of Steve-O form Jackass.

The guys from Jackass aren't eccentric conservationists that aim to educate, as they are fools that aim to make people dumber by lowering the standards of comedy to the lowest common denominator. Show some class.

Well, aren't you the sarcastic cynic. Damn right he did stupid things I never will - heck, if it weren't for Steve Irwin, I'd have to go poking angry, venemous snakes with my own microphone poles. He did the stupid things so we didn't have to.

He was human. Evident in the fact that he died. The man entertained me more than once, so here's to him for all his faults.
