The reason I can't stand Aqua Teens is its terrible dialogue and lack of plot. And it still doesn't manage humor.
Robot Chicken is pop culture sketch comedy, and therefore inevitably dated, but I find it much less painful to watch. And a couple of those skits are great.
Kat North wrote:Since I don't get the channel, I've never seen Robot Chicken...but I've heard that I need to. I've seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force over at my friend James house, and though its not my favourite thing in the world, I like it. Jim doesn't, though...he only likes Frylock.
But either way, I voted for "What the crap are these shows?"
Yeah personally, I only watch ATHF just to see Frylock.
I always have adult swim on in the background when I'm inking so I listen to ATHF sometimes like it were some kind of weird radio show. Though yesterday I had "The Mummy" on in the background for some reason. Probably because it's hilarious.

I like American Dad as well as Family Guy. But Family Guy is better.

Yeah. Nostalgia has it's appeal, but it wears thin really quickly. I'd really like to see some new stuff, rather than just have random chunks of my childhood torn up and recycled as retro-ironicool product.
Time-Warner - Or whatever the company is called these days - uses DC Comics as a testing ground for potential movie or TV developments. I think a good move for a production company or cartoon syndicate would be to buy one of the webcomic hosting services as a sort of laboratory - See what develops a firm audience and gets a lot of attention on forums and blogs, and develop that as a print comic or show. It would help to get some new material out there.
If negative reaction at those shows is anything alike what I feel for them, than it is more due to the hype about them and the fact that they don't live up to that hype, even though they're not a total piece of crap. Back and forth swing reaction.
RemusShepherd wrote:Note that Family Guy and Robot Chicken are done by the same guy (Seth McFarland).
Right shows, wrong Seth. Robot Chicken was co-created with Matthew Senreich by Seth Green, who does the voice of Chris Griffin in Family Guy.
Now, with that said, Seth Green = genius. ATHF = clawing-my-brains-out stupidity. Except Frylock. Frylock is the man. But Robot Chicken is still far superior.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.
