I'm sorry... when was this?

I remember when life was easy. I remember when I thought life was hard, when I had no idea how hard it could get. I remember having a driving vision, instead of a mind that merely settled. I remember going to bed at night not wondering what tomorrow was going to bring. I remember it not mattering. I remember being innocent and young. And I'm sure when I'm older I'll remember now as being a time when I was innocent and young, even though I don't see it now. I remember being excited about getting out of bed in the morning, knowing that the day was going to be good, instead of fearing that it was going to be bad.

I also remember Choco Tacos.

And Transformers. The original one that I remember almost nothing about.

I remember when I didn't have to soak and wrap my toe every morning after my shower.

I also remember when SNES games were the pinnacle of video game graphics

I remember when I thought the five minute walk to school was long.
Man, that was several hundred miles and several pairs of perfectly good shoes ago at least.

I had those. I used them instead of bikes until I was about 3.

I remember when "Built Tonka tough" actually meant something.

I remember when GI Joe was an "ordinary" soldier rather than some science fiction "action" team.

I remember when emo wasn't used as a dergatory word by people whose knowledge of it doesn't extend icy grasp of Clear Chanel. I remember when no one knew what I was talking about when I mentioned emo.

I remember when the word "shooter" meant games like Gradius or R-Type, not Halo or every other generic first person shooter on the market.

I remember when I thought Thunder Cats was a good show.

I remember wanting to be white so I'd be like everyone else.

I remember when "made in America" didn't make me question a product's quality. Chuck Taylors are nicer and have less defects now that NIke owns Converse. Makes me sad in a way.

I don't believe I've heard the story behind that. Care to share?
Not much of a story. I tripped on my own pajamas and landed on my knee. It got stiff but didn't hurt so I continued to run 30 miles a week. A month later it got all nasty and now the knee cap doesn't track properly. It pops and cracks all the time. I still wear those pajamas every night, but they're 6 inches shorter now.

Ouch. Given my clumsiness, I'm surprised I haven't done something similar

I remember when I used to get up at 6am before school so I could watch GI Joe.

I remember when Flash Gordon was my favorite movie, and my grandma's dog chewed the cardboard cassette sleeve and I cried. I loved that movie so much we actually bought it from the video store 'cause every time we went there I always rented it.

I remember when I used to be able to chug tequila and still not get blackout drunk.

I remember when I used to be able to climb like a monkey, and now my hands are all big and I have to have technique, dammit.

BAH! It was all about the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, baby! Dunno what this new upgraded one is, with April all havin' pink hair and all - bah!

I had a Donatello pillow and my friend had a Michaelangelo pillow and we used to fight with them and it was awesome.

Oh yeah, and how 'bout Super NES? I miss Super Mario World, dammit! I need to hunt that thing down, I know it's around somewhere...
