While I don't really go "gamer geek" very often, I do have the capacity in me. That video outed me big time! I'm nearly just as excited about this as Mr. Kolter, (except, I think I can control my urges until the fall release date) and for the same reasons. Yes, nuking planets is FABULOUS, but the thought of evolving from a single-celled lifeform, and scrapping my way up through the muck to a point where I have developed a species to a point in evolution in which it might have the technological ability to find and nuke extra-solar bodies if I so choose is far too intriguing to ignore. Hell, I'm sad that I hadn't really heard of it before this morning. I was counting the seconds as they ticked off the video, because he was still talking up to the cut off point, so now I'm
loading the entire lecture just so I don't miss anything! (It's a doozy, at over an hour long.) Put simply this game is what the simulation/strategy gamer in me has been waiting for since I discovered Sid Meier's Civilization on an old Mac, or came across a copy of Ascendency in a warehouse electronics sale. I only hope to goodness it's as open-ended as Mr. Wright is touting it to be. Given the man's brilliant track record, I do have faith! Kolter's right, the scope to this is astounding, and I can't wait to try it out!
