Since the other one died a horrible death, I thought I'd start a new one *L*
So.. whatcha think of the new animated banner? I think it makes it stand out more *L*
And did anyone notice Victims of the System's (currently #2) banner mentions DR? I found that rather amusing <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gi ... it:
Well Arno and I checked out their site. He pointed this out to me (from their main site,go ahead and look!!)
"Okay, I really didn't like the original rant I posted here, 'cuz I forgots lots of stuff and... yeah. So here's version 2.00. FIRST! I reached number ONE on the TOP 99! But now that I check, I'm at number TWO! Because "Dakota's Ridge" is a little PUNK!"
Now I think that's a riot. But I'll let you all come to your own conclusions.
[This message has been edited by Angie_DRTemp (edited 06-04-2001).]
Top 99 - The sequel!
Angie! LOVE the new banner! *L* only complaint is Dakota and jason go by so fast i have trouble reading them. But it's awesome! you rock *L*
*L* and the VOTS banner is pretty funny. *L* i liked it, thought it was kind of original. *L*
I doubt the punk comment was TOO serious.
you are fairly new to the list, though, but hey, you have the best fans, so there.

The only thing I'd suggest is to slow down the rate of change between frames, like Mel said. It moves so fast that many won't be able to read it. Other then that, I love the new banner! And that young Dakota icon, where the "vote at keenspace" link is, is absolutely adorable. How can you not click on him?
As for the second place guy... sounds like sour grapes to me in a joking way. I doubt that he was serious. Still, stuff like that always makes me wonder: If Dakota's Ridge is a little punk, yet still managed to one-up him, then what does that make his site? Hmmm...

I would assume the votes got reset for the same reason we lost some topics. Some sort of big dataloss or something somewhere.
Anyway, I think the new voting inticement 'button' is great, even if it does show up in the middle of the page as I open it. *l* Should be enticing enough.

Just a few late evening and tired words about a discussion in the lost topic that preceeded this one, namely about fooling the voting system. I could make a big story out of this, but I won't it's late... So I'll come straight to my point:
If you manage to fool the voting system, you've successfully broken it. That's all very well done, and clever, but who actually won there? Not Angie, for sure, she's proud to be at the top right now, but what does it mean if it means your readers are better at breaking the thing? The only one winning is the one doing the fooling, and that is not what this top 99 is for.
Let's keep the voting fair, shall we?

(Wouldn't want a repeat of the 'Vote for your favourite cartoon' fiasco Gargoyles was a part of. It merely won cause fans of nearly all the other programs kicked each other out of the race with automatic voting programs.)
