She's the main character of a series of long-ish short stories that I've written, about what happens to an ordinary California girl in the aftermath of a most unusual apocalypse. The stories came from my wondering whilst sitting at the bus stop, what if everything that people were afraid would happen to the computer and power systems come the Millennium, ACTUALLY HAPPENED? Our friend Janet here is the result!

Image

And THIS is a character that shall appear in her current form in The Something Something of SOMETHING Somethingness in ... about 7 months from now, given our buffer!

Image

And... well, this was just a funny character that popped into my head one day! Based off of a single phrase that came into my mind - the phrase that you see her saying now!

Image

Thanks for looking!

I like the first and the third ones. They have the down and dirty look, waving guns and hammers, wearing leather jackets and overalls. I like that. The second one has sort of a sci-fi space chick/half-gundam look, and I never really gave that sort of thing the appreciation that others may have. Overall, good. My favorite is the one with the hammer. Make more of her.

I think the second one is really cool, but damn, I love the first one. She really appeals to me. :)

Hah! How astute of you! Yes, I've always imagined her in my stories as looking a bit like Jennifer Connelly. That is, a post-apocalyptic teenage Jennifer Connelly without that enormous rack...

Reminds me of Gabriela, from Monolith's "Blood II: The Chosen".

Crowbar, yay. Always makes a good impression.

Connely, who's her? Some celebrity?

A celebrity. Less famous than some of those big-name folks out there, but still notable - especially for starring in slightly odd, dark films, like Labyrinth, Dark City, Requiem for A Dream, and A Beautiful Mind.

The easy answer is to bring back the Career Opportunities era enormous rack.
The less pandering answer would probably run somewhere along the lines of less sautrated shading. If it's a dirty post apocalyptic then you'll probably want a slight shade of sepia of some things, or at least take down the intensity of blues like her pants a bit.
Anatomically, it's really just preference, but recently I've started becoming confused at the comic tendancy to elongate people's legs and shorten the torso.
The second character is somehow less engaging, maybe because most of her personality seems to be transmitted through her choice of clothing, or lack thereof. I don't think the hygine in a post apocalyptic world would be good enough to let women where things like that.
The bullet wrap doesn't seem to be falling around her as much as it might.
You've got shading on her, but it's fairly general. It'd take more time, so it's really just an option, but you might try using smaller brushes to get around individual shapes like the gun or even screws.

That makes living in this world sound so much better than it actually is. You must have your google filters turned off.

Your signature picture gives me epileptic attacks! Bwahh! NEON BUTTERFLY!

Anyhoo... they're all from separate worlds... only the first one is meant to inhabit a post-apocalyptic scenario. The second lives in a bizarre, surrealist sci-fi/fantasy universe, and the third is just for kicks!

You should totally put the third one in the post-apocalyptic world. She could totally be a quiet mousy sort of nerd girl, like Jet from Tank Girl.

/\ And so based on Naomi Watts.

Base the middle one on a punked out scarlet johannsen or dita von teese and you'll never run out of reference material. :shucks:

Anyone who can insert Naomi Watts into their comic gets an automatic +100 sexiness points.

I like the first and third, especially the third. What I really like about them is the feet. Feet are something I've always had trouble with.

You know what I just noticed, on the second of the ladies, her hip. You gave her a barbie doll hip, that is to say, it looks like it was attached, rather than a part of her. You need to let it blend into her abdomen a little. Just erase a bit of the line near the top, and it will be fine. I just had to say something, because once I noticed it, it would drive me crazy until I did.

Great designs. The only thing I could think of that's odd with the first girl is that if she's in California.... why is she wearing such a thick coat? Did the the weather change at the "end of the world"?
