What do you think?

What do you think of the coloring on this picture?

My thoughts were that since it takes so long it isn't good for a comic, but maybe there is a way to color that takes a little less time but still looks nice. At any rate, I could color in some pages using the method. Essentially it's just taking a pencil drawing and then painting it.

This is the kind of stuff that's good for covers and such. How long did it take, by the way?

It took a lot less time then I thought it would. I'd say maybe 4-5 hours total time. The fur was the time-consuming part, and I made a lot of mistakes. I think with practice I could get the time down.

That's a really nice picture (Thoes wouldn't happen to be shetland sheepdogs would they?) but if you're spending 4-5 hours on coloring alone of one panel you're not going to be very productive. a lot of people do just what you did and draw a comic out by hand very neatly and then scan and color in Photoshop using brushes set to multiply. It's effective but it either looks great if you spend a ton of time (like you did) or sloppy and half assed if you rush it. It's hard to find a quick way to color comics digitally. I would recomend just praticing doing it like you did untill you get to where you don't give a second thought about coloring it.

Ah, thanks for the advice. And yes they are Shelties, I'm glad you knew that. I'm hoping now I can get the time down to a few hours per page and still have it look right, for one thing I tend to color comic pages much smaller then the original picture was and as long as I don't have fur to deal with I should be all right. I hope >.<

This is what the original penncil drawing looks like: http://photobucket.com/albums/v113/ktfl ... pencil.jpg
That actually didn't take me all that long to do.
