Couple things:

1. I made a comic yesterday using differentiated frames, more detail, shading, took out the "</3" that I had planned to be in the strip, and it really does look way better, so I wanted to thank everyone for the imput on how to make it more appealing without changing the medium.
(It's called 'Peabody Makes a Public Service Announcement' and will be posted in mid-October.)

2.
Some additional detail -- change of line thicknesses, additional colors, maybe a facial feature that can convey emotions (eyebrows are *wonderful*) -- could help.
Remus, you've got a good point. I'll experiment with that in the next strip!
(I do put in eyebrows sometimes, I don't know if I'd like them on her all the time, but I'll play around with changing the shape of her eyes for certain emotions.) Thank you!

3.
D) She wants to have fun and write something funny about a subject that is best represented in a cute, childish style.
Blackaby for the win!
This is mostly it.
Another motivation is that all my brother does is make comics all day, and making comics myself is a way to relate and bond with him. But Remus again has a point, and "C) She's having a crisis of self-confidence, and is afraid of her best art being rejected, so she's underperforming so that no rejection could possibly sting" also has to do with it. Not going to pretend that's not part of it, but it's definitely not the main or only reason for doing Peabody the way I do.
