need thoughts on coloring tests

Post by William G »

Basically, which color scheme works for you? And most importantly: Tell me why you think so.

Any better coloring suggestions are welcome

Depends on the effect you're going for. The red one is very vibrant. The other two, especially the one with white hair, look cold. Fire and ice.

The description:
I wrote:She's a sex robot that had too many personality parameters uploaded into her and became a simulation of a fully-thinking woman. Who then runs away from her "boyfriend" to find herself, even though she doesnt really know what that means.
It's a spiffying up of the 12 hour comic I did.

I think the one on the right looks a bit unfinished... the white hair sort of looks like you forgot to colour it. I like the red one best I think, but I'm not sure why... possibly it's just seems more alive, more reactive, the blue seems rather passive and the description you have given suggests that the character is not meant to be passive.
Warning: this poster is addicted to ellipses...

I have a web comic called Tears of Eternity if you don't look you'll never know if you would have liked it.

Before reading the description, I would have said the one on the right (just because I feel that the white of the hair matches better with the coldness of the colour blue).

But for a sex robot, I would choose the one on the middle. Red is always related to passion, a warm colour. It's the colour I would use if I built a sex robot, at least.

I like the blue one with white hair. That's just me.

The red one is the most human. When first asked, that's the one I went toward. After your description, though, the first blue one seems best. The blue outfit and lips, as Faub say, evokes a coldness, which refers to her robot nature. The fact that her personality is that of a real woman, though, requires at least a touch of humanity, and the blonde hair supplies that while the white makes her seem more of a machine.

In short, the first one.

Simply Red.

Besides, red = colour of passion => Sex robot :D

Edit: Oh, Rain said that already. Oh well, great minds think alike ;)

But as yeahduff said, the blue lipstick is quite robotic... I don't know how the story will go, but maybe, the lack of that lipstick and the red suit could serve as a means of telling her apart from the other similar robot models? Just a thought...

Thanks everyone. I've narrowed it down to two sggestions very different from what I posted above, and I guess it'll come down to the rest of the pallette.
