Lately I've been having a helluva hard time doing White Hydra and its style, and what's worse last week I injured my right hand while wrestling with a bud and since have had my drawings "off" so to speak.

On top of that, I've been having more and more trouble writing (In my view) acceptable strips for readers. Seems like my joke pool is running low.

However, I am a pretty good author when I'm not writing about Republicans or demonic celebrities, and I've been trying to learn Steve Gordon's style lately. I figured I might take a crack at an old series idea of mine called "Vigilante Fantasy" about a vigilante named Ginger.

Over the years I've had various incarnated ideas of it; ranging from a futuristic space rebel, to a modern day bounty hunter, to a steampunk cowboy. None of them have worked out too well (If you have an idea pop it in here)

The girl's appearance is based off Anastacia, and she herself is pretty badass

Here's some logo work I did of it. Whadya think?

Any chance of seeing the logo with either the word VIGILANTE or FANTASY having a black border around all of it (as opposed to no border where the two words overlap) ? I don't know if it'll look any better but I'd like to see it.

As for comic ideas: What kind of story style do you have, enjoy, or are looking for? Quick laughs or Story (long story or short story?), comedy or serious, dark or light, modern or old, fantasy or realism? And what kind of setting are you thinking of? I know that's not really answering the question but it gives something to think about at least.

Huh...sounds like an idea I've had recently that I'm not gonna do cause I can't draw good enough.

I dunno. It's great, but it's just text. With such a rich source as a vigilante, I feel a graphic would be pretty easy to put in the logo somewhere. Six-gun, sword, whatever.

Apart from that, I agree with LAG. Black border all the way around "Fantasy" would, hah, give it an extra edge, particularly on the white background version.

The story is something I want serious, light(ish), fantastic, and modern.

That looks too much like the White Hydra logo. You need to give the new (old?) comic a different character so the readers will immediately identify it as separate from White Hydra.

Maybe something architectural? Vigilante is a longer word than Fantasy. You could extend the V and E down so Vigilante surrounds Fantasy.

Get rid of the overlap, though. Right around the N in Vigilante, it gets a weird Escher effect. You can't tell if vigilante is overlapping fantasy or the other way. There just isn't enough coverage from the tops of the A, S and Y.

I gotta agree with other folks here... the text is damn cool (and I add my vote for the black border) but you need something more. With the white hydra logo you have the hydra in the background.

If you have some of this planned out in your head, couldn't you add some of the things from the story into the title image, or a background from where you want the story to take place?

I think the black-bordered version, superimposed on a cityscape, would add a hard edge to the logo, for example.

The problem is to incorporate stuff like that into it.

'sides, I'm a fan of the classic text-only logos of comic books, like Spider-Man.
I COULD try something like the Avengers had though

I think the reason those logos look a little odd is because there's too much extra space around them. Other than that, though, they're pretty cool. Not overdone but not blah, either.
Although...I'm not certain about the color. Usually your colored stuff has a lot of impact but the blue seems a bit pale for some reason. Doesn't quite speak as loudly as some of the other work I've seen from you.

This was the one I was thinking of. You're right, though. This looks nothing like the one you're using.

The black border helped quite a bit, by the way.

I gotta say, the logo itself doesn't seem signifigant, or stand out on its own. the colors tend to look nice but the font you picked looks a little to much like Blambot generic.

I think that first and formost (even if you can't make your fonts) look for somthing a little out there. Less Standard gives you more of a "iconic" look. You want people to identify with a logo. Not go "oh he just took a font and put some gradients on it" somthing no one else is going to touch. and if its a vigilante. maybe somthing more blocky? when I think Vigilante I think city which makes me think of bricks.

One of the biggest issues on the font logo (this is just me) is that the letters tend to be to close together. in big size its not a problem. but smaller sizes it will be. Just somthing I think about when I look at it.

The logo is fine, and it should work out for you. but imo I think it could be done better with a less "generic" looking font selection.

Here's a sketchy I tried of the main character. The arm came out as shite though. The costume is either going to be blue (Like in the logo) with yellow chest, or blue with black legs.

I likes that character. I likes a lot.

As for the story, it seems like you're interested in doing something kinda' anime, you know: Story, fatastic, modern, hawt chicks; somewhat Metal Gear Solid or Ghost in the Shell type of thing. I'm not hot on that material myself, but it's worth a run through for further ideas.

There's a little space in the logo right under the V in Vigilante. Maybe you could put a silhouette of this Ginger girl there?
