I really don't like the way computer lettering looks. It's so flat and lifeless and can kill a strip IMO. I've really struggled trying to find a font that looks natural, more fitting. Any suggestions?

Depends on your style. For you, yes, I agree. You art is very loose and computer lettering looks out of place. For, say, War though, his art is very precise and detailed and computer lettering would be just fine.

That is my final verdict. It looks out of place with your loose style. If anything, make a font based on your own handwriting rather than a comic lettering font, if you have to type it out.

Which isn't that expensive... or try out this http://www.tucows.com/preview/315855 or some other font creation trial program. I can't speak from experience with these, I can't REMEMBER the name of the font program I used to make my handwriting font. XP

I don't think "hand drawn" is the key word there: I think stiffer, more realistically drawn comics benefit from computer lettering while bouncier, more cartoony comics suffer. I'll just work more on my lettering; I think I did a pretty good job for today's.

Hey, I realize this topic was settled a while ago, but I thought I'd offer an opinion in case you were still wondering: do whatever's easier for you. Since I can't spell, I totally prefer being able to letter on the computer (and then I can also rearrange where I put the bubbles), so I find doing my lettering with the computer makes my life simpler. Both your handlettering and your computerlettering look okay with your comic, so I say you could use either and you should go for the one that takes less effort on your part. And if you are looking for additional fonts to use, I suggest blambot; they have lots of nifty free fonts (and some you can pay for) you can download and use. http://blambot.com At any rate, whatever you like doing for your lettering, your comic's very entertaining!
