Webpage Clutter?
Hi everyone.
I recently added a chat box to the side of my main blog area on my website. I'm a little worried now though that, seeing as there are other things on the side, if my index page maybe is too cluttered.
Any advice, thoughts, opinions, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think you need to make less scrolling on the page. I have my screen at 1024x768 and I have to scroll left to right.

Re: Webpage Clutter?
Thanks for that guys. I guess I never thought about looking at with other screen resolutions.
I'm going to narrow the width of it on the main page. On the archived pages, is it a problem too or is it fine there? And is the clutter on the right hand side of the right page too much?
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

Re: Webpage Clutter?
I narrowed all the pages, including the blog section on the main page, and also made a lot of the images, including the navigation images, a lot smaller. Still though, the blog section seemed too narrow, so I changed the actual blog page to get rid of some of the bigger images in it.
Is the blog portion still easily readable?
Thanks for your patience guys, thanks.

Re: Webpage Clutter?
the blog proportion is still readable.
It looks a lot better now. and I don't really think that the right side is that cluttered.
If you still want to free it up, you could make a link page, instead of listing the links below your vote buttons.

Well as long as the average reader, in this case you, can find the blogs still readable and doesn't think the page looks cluttered, then I'm happy. Thanks for your input on this.

I have always hated the scrolling page inside another page thing like you have with the blog.
You can use this script to fix it: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicinde ... messi2.htm

Wow, I really like that. However, it says it wouldn't be able to work if I referenced an outside source. In this case, my iFrame goes to blogger.com. I'm guessing you're somewhat familiar with this script so I'll ask you: am I reading this right and it won't work? Or am I reading it right, and maybe there's a better way to include it?
Re: Webpage Clutter?
Yeah, I guess that is the way it works. I have used the script but only on things on my own page. Too bad 'cause it works really nicely.

Clutter doesn't matter so much if you manage to keep it away from the content (the comic in this case). You have, so I wouldn't worry too much. Certainly make things as neat and tidy as you can but remember that most people will be there for the comic and that's nice and clear.

If you have a program like Dreamweaver, you can set table widths to a specific percentage of the screen (at least, I think. I could be wrong, perhaps).
