CG is the nameless hero of the NES game Crystalis. I myself dubbed him CG. I'll leave it to you to ponder why.
In the game CG wakes up from a special cryo-capsule with no memories. He soon learns that he is a legendary hero frozen in time to save the future. The future is a post-apocalyptic world where all technology has been locked away so the mistakes of the past can't be repeated. But an evil wizard is trying to unlock the tower containing the technologies. CG is given the sword of wind and told to collect the other Crystalis swords. Along the way he is taught powerful psionics from four wise elders who guide him.
So that's where CG get's his swords, psionic powers, and anti-technology view point. The bitterness is due to the fact that he's from a much less known game (hence nobody knows him, yet everybody knows Link)
