Keiko was a bit tired...

When they woke up, it was evening... The sun was setting. Makani woke up from dreams of surfing on North Shore, Keiko had no dreams.
"Hey! It's those weird mushrooms!" Makani exclaimed! They were surrounded by a patch of mushrooms of all colors! Makani started picking them, red, blue, green, yellow and more!
"Hey! Those things could be dangerous!" Keiko yelled and tried to stop him.
"Don't worry! I'm not too sure what they're called, but I know they're safe. My Grandma used to tell me stories about rare colorful mushrooms that bloom in the evening! Most mushrooms come up at dawn with the sun. These are late-bloomers. The prettiest and the best!"
Keiko smiled. She was a late-bloomer herself. Most of her childhood was mundane. She was only currently on the verge of getting to know herself, of becoming the woman that she felt she was. She smirked and coyly asked "Are they really?"

"Well I certainly think so," Makani smiled, and Keiko's heart melted. For a few minutes, they embraced in a soft, warm, heart-felt embrace.

"Oh Makani! Now I'm really glad I didn't jump!"

"Me too, Keiko. Me too." He played with her red hair a little, as if he was trying to make up his mind. Keiko saw his blue aura deepen and flicker for a moment, before it became larger and shone brighter than ever. She almost knew what was to come next. "I love you, Keiko." She closed her eyes and waited for his lips to join hers.

'I love you too, Makani,' she thought.
But in the back of her mind, other thoughts were swirling and entangling themselves in one another. Should she or shouldn't she tell him what had happened to her? She either wasn't human, or was spiritually gifted. She needed him to help her figure this out, but she also didn't want to lose him. What would she say? A tiny knot began to grow in the pit of her stomach...

"Why do you love me Keiko?" Makani asked.
"What kind of question is that? Don't you know?" Keiko said.
"Don't avoid the question! Tell me! You never did..." Makani said.
Keiko played with the grass a little. It was getting dark, they had spent most of the late afternoon sitting there with each other.
"I dunno." Keiko said "I just like being with you. I have fun, and... I don't know why I love you, I just do!"
Keiko looked up, the first star of the night showed itself. "Your turn, why do you love me?"
Makani turned his eyes towards Keiko. "Oh... because you know so much about me, and I know so much about you. You never keep anything from me, I can trust you with anything and you always trust me with everything. There's nothing about each other that we don't know, and so, to me, it seems like we're the same person, the same soul."
Keiko tried her best to smile. A lump manifested inside her throat. Oh, what to say, what to say...?

"Ma... Makani?" She started, looking up into his deep blue eyes that matched his hair.
"Yes?" he replied.
"I.. I haven't been totally honest with you in the past couple of hours..." Keiko's eyes lowered to the ground. As her gaze moved from the green grass to the rainbow of evening mushrooms, she gained an ounce of confidence. 'Do it,' a voice within her said. 'Do not be *afraid* *Young Mushroom*.' Keiko swallowed. She had to get this out. She had to tell him. She had to let Makani know. So she began. Finally, she told Makani everything that had happened to her, including the smiling sky, and her mushroom-like skin.

And all Makani did was smile.
"I still love you," said he. "Perhaps more than ever." He wrapped his arms around her and held tight. They embraced for a long time, and a sparkling tear fell from Keiko's cheek. As the tear fell, their auras grew and intertwined, shining greater than ever. And as their auras changed, so did they.

"Welcome back, *Bean Sprout*. Welcome back, *Young Mushroom*." The sky was now smiling more happily than ever. His work had been accomplished. He had joined two people in love and nourished them to grow into their mature selves.

"You! You're a..." Keiko said, with shock, amazement, and a hint of a smile apon her face.
"Yes. I'm a Sprout, just as you are a Mushroom." Makani held his embrace, his limbs now green as green beans on the vine. He smiled softly.
"But.. I didn't know... What about all you said about being honest?"
"I showed you before.. Don't you remember? The day we met.. Upon that hill.. All those years ago. We were only children then.. But ever since then I knew I loved you."
"Oh Makani!!!!" She clung fast to him, then when she had finished weeping, gave him a kiss. "Why, Makani.. You have green bean antennae coming from your head!" Keiko giggled. "Actually, they're kind of cute!"
"They aren't nearly as cute as your mushrooms." He began to play with the two white mushrooms atop her head. They were just above where her bangs came from.
"Ahh... *love*...."

----meanwhile----

there lies deep in the fog, between two cherry blossom trees, a web spun of an unnamed color. the silky threads twist and turn, mingling, meeting. sometimes they come together and sometimes they come apart. a few times, two silky threads follow the same path so closely they merge into one. at certain times, when two threads meet, they seperate again in many more parts. but so fragile are the lines, that a falling blossom sometimes tears many apart, and sometimes the lines are so close together, and support each other so well, that they can withstand anything.
there are two women, one in silver, one in gold, that sit on both sides of the web, spinning and snipping.
the one in silver spoke first "this is strange."
the one in gold snipped a thread, and looked up "what is it?"
"these two lines. they're starting to come together."
the one in gold put her dagger away and began to spin in another area. "quite normal."
the one in silver beckoned her sister to look "but it was not written in the book. these two threads defy fate."
the one in gold looked up "there seems to be forces here besides us."
the one in silver pulled the two threads apart. "we must tell this to Nola'va"
the one in gold pulled the dagger from her sheath. in a glint of light, one thread fell black, and whithered away.
