Okay, if anyone has any ideas, post 'em here. I have a large backlog of unfinished strips, and I need the time to get them done, write annotations and generally get caught up (and, ideally, a little ahead).
Here's my proposal: I'll keep updating with new strips on Monday and Friday, leaving Wednesday as a "Finished Strip" day, where I throw links to the finished strips on my front page.
Now. Since I'm technically supposed to update on Wednesdays with new stuff, what do you guys wanna see?
1. Guest strips! Send 'em in, and I'll put guest strips on the main page each Wednesday until I'm caught up.
2. Sketches! I'll throw a few JF sketches, thumbnails, layout doodles and so on in place of the strip on Wednesday.
3. Nothing! Monday's strip stays up until Friday. Booooring.
What do YOU guys recommend? Either way, JF will be down to 2 updates a week until I can get caught up. What shows up on that third day is up to you! On Friday, 18 January, I'll take an unofficial count and figure out he most popular idea. That's when I'll put out the official call for guest strips, or announce what I'll be up to.
Let's hear the suggestions!
------------------

I'd love to see some JF guest strips too, maybe interspaced with interesting backstory and tidbits that you could either quickly type up or scan..something like the recent character sketches at RPG World.
And of course, you could take a bit of inspiration from Nukees and maybe let guest colorists do strips for a bit, if that's what is making things take longer.
I'd have to say my favorite part of a 'finished' strip is the note below, though.

Guest strips!
And not just because I would want to do one. I mean, there are plenty of other reasons I would want to see it. Like the effects that it would have on the alignment of cosmic bodies, 'n stuff.
Hey, Mister, wanna buy a... kitten?!?

It's been my experience that many guest stripes bite. I vote for sketches and layout and whatnot. Give us some of what you use to model the characters, y'know?
I'd love to see some nice big sketches of Jackie, Ada, Melissa, Jin...

I liked the strips which were inked but not colored. Black and white strips would not be entirely frowned upon, although of course color is better.
If I did another guest strip, would you mind me causing everyone to go furry?
------------------

I suppose I could do a mixed bag--some guest strips and some sketches (I just figured you'd all had your fill of my sketches).
Furry JF would be cool--basically, the guest strips can be anything as long as they're not too twisted (good taste, maybe?).
And once I DO finally get caught up (oh miracle of miracles), if there are still some guest strips in the queue, they can hit the main page on tuesdays and thursdays...

Guest strips would be cool, funky sketchy stuff would probably be even cooler. Nothing would bite. A little bit of everything would probably be best, everyone loves a suprise. Does anyone have any other ideas for things that could be done?
I am curious, would going back to line or shaded save alot of time?

While it's true that Guest Strips sometimes lack the artistic talent of the original author, I imagine it would be a lot more tolerable to have one per week, surrounded by original art too, on Monday and Friday.
Maybe BJ could even put up the guest strip I did eons ago.
-Zodo, CI

Well, in the spirit of the recent AiS guest strips, and because we still can't see BJ's AiS strip because Keen is being poopy (justifiably so, but still poopy), I offer the following...

...and a thought - can folks submit their favorite relettered strip, if they stick within the aforementioned boundaries of taste? Might help some of those fans who lack drawing ability (who, what, ME?) feel more comfortable offering something. Whattaya think, BJ?
-Shannon
[This message has been edited by jackiesfridge (edited 01-14-2002).]

Hm. Relettered strips are cool, finally posting Zodo's strip on the main page would be cool, going back to straight black and white would be a little quicker, but not much, and it seems so far like we're split between sketchbook stuff and guest strips.
There's enough interest in both, though, that I'm thinking a tentative schedule could go something like this:
Monday: Regular JF strip
Tuesday: One of my sketches
Wednesday: Guest strip
Thursday: Another of my sketches
Friday: Regular JF strip.
Tentative!
------------------

Yay Finished Strips! Yay Guest Strips! I better go practice my stick figgers!
Though seriously, BJ, with that tentative schedule of yours, it looks like you might end up with more work for yourself over the catch up period, rather than less. Nothing wrong with just two real strips and one fake strip per week.
JIM, braving the JF board once again
------------------

Y'know, you never did put up those strips I colourd. Not, of course, that I think they're particularly sterling examples of their kind, but I'm a egoist at heart and all that.
-Octapus "Spotlight" E
-I find that many true artists are united in one thought: The overwhelming conviction that their work sucks. I am not a true artist because I think I do quite good work. This probably means it sucks.
