UW System and Lightbulbs

I know this is my first post here but oh well, you can taunt me later:How many Wisconsin college students does it take to change a light bulb? At Madison it takes two. One to change the bulb and one more to brag about how they did it every bit as well as any Ivy League school. At Oshkosh it takes two thousand. One to change the bulb, and the other one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine to riot and set it on fire. At Stout it takes ten, one to change the bulb and the other nine to sit around and watch because it is the big entertainment of the evening. At Whitewater it takes six, because that's how many people actually stay in the dorms on the weekend instead of going home. At Stevens Point it takes zero. They are all too drunk from the night before to care whether or not the lights are on. At UW Milwaukee it takes four. One to change the bulb, one to steal the new bulb from the store, one to act as a lookout and one to drive the getaway car. At Eau Claire it takes eight. One to screw it in and seven to throw a party over it. At UW-Green Bay it takes twelve, two to figure out how to screw it in and ten to find an ugly enough lamp shade to match their school colors. At River Falls it takes zero. There is no electricity in River Falls, only cows and corn. (or Lakeland for that matter.) At Superior it takes five. Four to strap on snow shoes and hike ten miles to the nearest store to get the new bulb and one to screw it in. At Platteville it takes twenty. One to change the bulb and the other nineteen to find a new way to engineer it so it never has to be changed again. At La Crosse it takes 3. One to screw it in, and the other two to giggle because he said, "Screw." ------------------

Hm. Sounds like Oshkosh is similar to Purdue University. A couple years ago, students got rowdy after a NCAA tournament basketball game, and had a little riot around campus, with a bonfire in the middle of the street. Completely spontaneous, and for the most part, harmless.Now after every big sporting event, the students come out to break and burn stuff around campus. (it's a good thing that the Rose Bowl happened during Winter Break) After the Women's Basketball team lost the final round of the NCAA championchip on Sunday, the students came out, and did around $100,000 in damage. Some were quoted in the school paper as saying that they had missed previous riots, so they were making sure they took part in this one.Is it just me, or is this a very huge JoBethism, aside from the fact that JoBeth is pretty much harmless?The police ran out of tear gas, and had to be resupplied with it. They also deployed a new weapon: A digital camera, to take pictures of the rioters. They have posted the pics on a <A HREF="http://www.purdue.edu/oop/police/" target=_blank>web site</A> and have offered a reward of up to $5000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of the instigators of the riots.Zodo sez: Cool.-Zodo

That IS cool. The photo thing, anyway. The JoBeth reasoning sounds too much like something that happened on the Stevens Point campus a few weeks ago...The new Gov was giving a speech about increased funding for the Fine Arts Centre on campus, and a bunch of students turned out to picket the funding...get this....because they could.One of their ringleaders was quoted as saying something like It's our right to hold public protests, so we should protest as often as we can!I'll bet most of them had no clue what they were protesting. People like that give me the creeps......Hey! You live in my time zone--what are you doing up so late?! <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/tongue.gif">
