Haibane Renmei was cute and trippy. Deals with the afterlife. Sort of a slow exploration thing like Kino no Tabi.
Fate/Stay Night was ok, though I hated main guy soooo much for being a sexist pig. Saber was cool, nice action.
Kino no Tabi is an awesome series. Beautiful art, deep. Its slow, but in a good way.
Scrapped Princess was a beautiful work of ART. Story, characters, action, animation, music, its awesome. Best anime I've seen in like a long time.
Full Moon wo Sagishite is exactly like Sailor Moon. If they gave Sailor Moon throat cancer. I liked it.

The naruto anime is pretty bad now. Has been since part 1 ended before the 2 years of filler. With all the money naruto's making, how can they be so cheap with the animation? It hurts to watch it. Fights people have been looking forward to for YEARS ruined. Bleach is doing way better in that regard.Risky wrote:Yes, Naruto Shippuuden is much better than Naruto, watch that instead.Ayame Ex_Goddess wrote:*Chases BlackSparrow with a giant mallet*

Well, Kubo Tite's characters are distinct enough that they don't need the same clothes to identify themselves. I swear, if there was an anime with realistic hair colors, I'd never be able to differentiate any of the characters.Risky wrote:I do enjoy Bleach, I like the new opener (or at least the first few seconds of it), and it's nice to have an anime where people don't always wear the same clothes every day.

I have caught up with Gurren Lagann!

Also, Gantz is the worst translation of a *good* manga to anime I've ever seen. It has more standing still and talking than Yugioh and DBZ combined!
*Edit I finished Gantz. And yup, pretty pissed off. Its bad that I enjoyed the last 4 filler episodes better than their *adaptation* of the canon manga. Its like the same thing that happened with Hellsing. Just goes off on some stupid tangent to try to bring closure to a story that just fucking started.

I finished watching Maburaho just a minute ago. Its a harem type anime, but it was also incredibly cute. Also filled with fanservice. It also avoids the murder/suicide ending that I naturally expect at the end of every harem anime. Technically I guess its in the magical girl genre as well since it takes place in a mage high school. Lead guy is a magical genetic pinata containing the most ridiculously lucky family tree ever, descended from famous magicians all over the world. This of course leads to girls trying to have their way with him, which lead guy will have no part of. Because he's a nice guy, and of course girls hate sex. Ignoring the fact that alot of the conflict could be resolved with a dirty magazine, lotion, and a few hours of lab work, I really enjoyed this.
I'm watching Death Note as well. Just finished the first half. I honestly think they did a very good job with it. Its not all gothed out like someone else mentioned, at least to me. I found the potato chip bag of doom very enjoyable. I already read the manga, so I knew what to expect, and its really very faithful. Also I love the 2nd opening and ending. A really nice change of pace from most "OMGPOWERLVL!!" comics and anime.

Death Note Z

The Death Note anime is good, eh? I should check it out, I really enjoyed the manga (a real nail-biter).

The latest volume of Hellsing released is hilarious too. It's an entire volume of a fight between Alucard and Alexander. Nothing plot-wise really happens in it. And it took, what, 2 years to come out?brockway wrote:I have caught up with Gurren Lagann!

But the Hellsing Ultimate OVAs are spectacular.

In general, the definitive anime are Cowboy Bebop, Akira, Azumanga Daioh, any Miyazaki film, and Evangelion.
Feel free to expand on your own though.
edit: the Deathnote manga is fantastic. The couple of volumes leading to the end were pretty slow but HOLY SHIT what an ending. Funny thing is, you can spoiler-but-not-really it by saying "The hero wins"... After all, who the hero in the story is is up to interpretation.
