In order to revive Keenime, I thought it would be nice to continue the tradition of events like WinterKeen. For those of you who are unfamiliar with WinterKeen, it was an event where all interested Keenime artists submitted winter-themed art to a single gallery.

For the month of February, I'll be happy to host the Keenime Hearts Event (aka for Valentine's). Feel free to PM me your entry or just leave a link to it in this thread.


The RULES:

1. Art must be based on a comic that is drawn in an anime/manga style. However, in order to enter your art into this event, you do not need to own a Keenspace comic. In otherwords, if you are a fan of a Keenspace comic that uses an anime/manga style, then by all means, support them by drawing them some Valentine's fanart!

2. The theme is Valentine's. Make of that what you will, as long as it conforms to rule #1. You may draw your own characters or do fanart.

3. Keep it clean. No nudity or hentai or stuff that's inappropriate for general audiences.

4. Entries will be accepted till the February 29th.

5. Please give me your site address and your nick with your entry.

6. I would prefer it if you could save your pics as .jpg or .gif files.

7. Plug! Plug! Plug! Help to revive Keenime by telling all Keenime artists you know about this event! Tell your readers too! I will be happy to host fanart from your readers, so long as they follow the rules above.

What do I need to submit along with my pic?
Along with your pic/link to pic, please submit:
1) Your name/nick
2) Your website and the website your fanart is for (if applicable)
3) Description of your pic.

That's really cool. I am new here, *hangs head in shame* and I was wodnering a couple things:

#1. Do you have to be part of the Keenime group (is there even one)?
#2. Does it have to be a Keenspace page (cause I don't know if mine will be fully functional by then)?

In answer to your questions:

1) No, you don't have to be a member of Keenime to enter this. Anyone who has a style that they consider to be similar to anime/manga style is welcome to showcase their art in Keenime Hearts.
2) No, you don't have to be a member of Keenspace to enter. But, any art that is submitted must be based on a Keenspace site that uses an anime/manga style. This means that fans can submit their own art of their favorite Keenspace comics.

I'll add these to the rules above, so as to consolidate the info.

I checked out your comic. You've got some really cute characters! I wonder what's going to happen to Kioko? I hope she gets her arm back at least.

Well, I guess since Keenspace's still down, I can afford to draw some stuff, even though I'm still doing exams! Oh, and what's the restrictions as far as stuff? Can I do pics of future characters hugging with shoujo bubbles and stuff? if so, then I'm in!!!

... if DeviantART would cooperate right now, that is...

Sure, go ahead and draw future characters. Shoujo bubbles would be a nice touch. Especially if you make them blindingly sparkly.

To Aimi : Welcome to Keenspace, Aimi. Plug away! If everyone could put a little Keenime Hearts banner and plug in their newsbox (if they have one) that would be awesome. I'll be plugging Keenime for the whole month of February ^__^ If ftp cooperates ... which it wasn't, last time I checked. Anyhoo ... love your style, Aimi. You've got really nice, detailed artwork in your comic, and it's shoujo no less. That will work wonderfully for Valentine's!

I am a sentient arthropod. Hence the name.

Sappiness is good. Or you can rail against establishment and do an anti-Valentine's picture. I'm contemplating doing one myself.

So much for an anti-establishment pic by me. Here's the working sketch:



It's my main character, a blind elf (hence the lack of pupils). I can imagine him assailing random ppl with arrows and causing all round good chaotic fun ... so maybe it is an anti-establishment pic after all.

personally, I think bluebug is awesome for getting this thing together!

3) Adam and Ashley (protagonist and her "crush") are cosplaying as Hatsumi and Ryouki from one of my favorite mangas, Hot Gimmick by Miki Aihara.

In the Altar Girl story, if Adam were to really push Ashley up against a wall she probably wouldn't be pushing him away, she'd just faint -- or something. ^_^;; The hairstyles are also slightly different than usual since its "cosplay".
