I'm here with my a dying stomache for USA Up All Night!
Well, my life has radically changed since I was diagnosed with Crohn's back in August. After getting the crapped knocked out of me I've had time to reflect on a lot of things and really realize how crazy I was before my health forced me to relax (well I'm trying to). Well, I had a bowel movement an hour or two ago that woke me up and sent me into a lot of pain. So I find myself wide awake at 4 AM just trying to relax. I've amassed quite a personal library, I've only read maybe a forth of the books I have. I haven't been able to read that much even now that I'm sick but I hope to find some middle ground as I think my health is improving. Soon I will desend on these piles of books and fill my head with stuff. Anyways, anyone interested in reading? I've always been a book nerd, care to recommend some titles? Any subject.

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. One of the top 5 books I've ever read. It's cyberpunk with a sense of humour.
I hope you have a speedy recovery. My cousin has Crohn's, and he's living a normal life now. Well, except that because of complications he no longer feels pain in his left hand. It's pretty creepy to see him barbequeing with his hand, since it gets slightly charred and starts smelling tasty.

Well I haven't slept a wink, just rolled around in pain and paced back and forth everyone now and then.
Yeah most people with Crohn's do live normal lifes, I was unaware that our neighbors to the North had acquired barbeque technology.
My problem that my condition is inflamed right now and raging out of control. Unless things get better I may have to undergo more drastic treatment.
I've heard of Snow Crash before, I'll have to check it out sometime as I've never read a cyberpunk novel. Any good book on film theory or technique you might remember from your old college days?

You have to understand that by "barbeque" I mean "Zippo lighter and an ashtray."
We had a pretty good film text, but I can't remember the name. I suggest instead you study that "Aesthetics of Fascism" book. The cover alone is worth the price.
When I yell, "REAGANOMICS!" I'm mocking it. I guess it sounds good in theory, but the trickle-down part didn't exactly trickle down. Keynes all the way, baybee!
Right now I'm using one of those Biore strips that hurts like an absolute motherfucker. I'll see if I can scan it after.

sorry to hear about your ailmets doctor ray. i did a little report on crohn's disease about a month or so ago for on of my pharmacy classes. i do notknow very much about it but what i read was that it was thought to be hereditary especially for people of jewish decent. i also read some bid-ness about how there is no cure only treatments for the symptoms. so my heart goes out to you -- it sounds simply miserable.
i have been reading the wheel of time latley. everyone claims that it is the best series ever but i can't shake this feeling that all of robert jordan's ideas come from tolkien and frank herbert...
i also recomend the death gate cycle by margaret wiess and tracy hickman and his dark materials trilogy by phillip pullman. those are my currant fave's...
(sorry if any names are mispelled...)

Thanks, I was only diagnosed with it back in August when I went in to the emergency room for the pain I was having. I have hope though that in today's fast paced medical world they can find a cure in a matter of years hopefully before I lose my stomache and have to carry a bag the collects my stool.

Hehe, that book sounds like something I'd like. Black comic Leonard/Leary hitman druggie novel! Where do you find stuff like this?
Good luck with your recovery, from what I've read Crohn's is something that flares up or is in remission. I remember reading a webpage with Crohn's friendly recipes, I think the author used yam flour instead of wheat flour.
