I personly can't say too much bad about ADV, ya the add music is less then good, but they do not od a horrible job on the dubbing. hey it could be Magna, then I would be looking for a cargo van and horse shit.

I saw Evangelion subbed because I didn't have a DVD player at the time and couldn't located dubbed tapes. I thought they did a pretty good job of it, excepting the 5 years without EoE.

But the anime channel, is this only going to be ADV anime? Their line up seems a bit biased towards sci-fi and action.

How many hours a week do you all usually watch?

Since I'm off school till January and get off work at 4:00 while my friends work till 8:00, I tend to watch about 10-15 hours a week.

If I had a channel that offered a decent selection of shows I would probably double that and become a recluse living in a dark room. Maybe it's best if it doesn't come to Canada.

Anime used to be just a weekend thing for me, except with Hellsing where I watched each episode as soon as it downloaded.

Now I try to watch one or two half hour episodes a day as a way of learning Japanese. I don't always have time for that. I usually go through a television series per month, so that's.. 3-4 hours a week?

I've always spent more time reading manga than watching anime.

Funny, I'm watching Hellsing right now. I think it's a bad sub because some of what they say doesn't make sense to what they are doing..

I've always wanted to learn Japanese, but I've never had the time or any real oppurtunities. In Grade 10 I considered taking Japanese 10, but the teacher knew almost nothing... He simply taught it because he was the most familiar with the text books. Being force fed french in grade school put me off wanting to learn another language until grade 10 and then I had the choice of incompetent Japanese, French or German. Now I'm so busy with my real education that I don't think I have the time for anything else.

The University of Alberta offers Japanese courses, but right now I'm spending most of my free time mastering C++, Java, Assembler and all sorts of theory related to my courses. I keep saying I'll get around to it someday, but I doubt I'm ever going to unless I do it now.

I get stuff like that in my e-mail all the time...

http://mdn.mainichi.co.jp
Read the Wai Wai section for an interesting look at the hidden side of Japan... I don't know how much of this stuff I need to take with a grain of salt, but it usually gives me a laugh. It's almost like reading the National Enquirer, but it claims to be true.

i dunno. i don't think that an american all anime channel would do very well. granted that anime has been getting more and more popular, the average joe seems to think that all anime is digimon or porn...or both ( http://www.machall.com/april/index.html ).

i just can't see it being an economically sound move.

and i think adv does a decent job of dubbing. what a great job to have though. to love anime and actually have a job in the anime industry only to be hated by pompus anime fans. the life of a dub voice actor is the life for me...
